My husband and I visited Dancing Dragonfly Winery after a recommendation. It was a short trip from the Twin Cities and a nice place to spend the afternoon. Beautiful tasting room along with its vineyard out the back. Places to sit outside and enjoy the weather and peaceful views. The wines were quite nice. The staff was knowledgeable about the wines and grape varietals; although a little slow to get to you for your next pour even when the tasting room wasn't overly busy. I look forward to visiting again and have already recommended it to others!
We did a ladies night out... No kids-hubby's-just a fun night out with girlfriends. Wine was delish, cheese and meat tray tasty...beautiful venue! Planning on doing our next annual ladies night out and about there!!
Have visited here somewhat regularly since the first weekend they were open! Selected it as the first winery to visit for my 40th birthday party in September. Service could have been a bit faster/better, but we had a large group. Finally a few people just bought bottles and we headed upstairs to enjoy the sunshine, the view of the vineyard and some of the awesome wood fired pizza. I love their wines, I love the atmosphere and I hope to attend an event in the winery sometime to see how they do with those. Well worth the stop and the purchases!
Three of us age 55+ enjoyed a couple of hours at the Dancing Dragonfly Winery. This winery has been open for a little over a year. We attended the first weekend in October, and it was somewhat busy. It was too cool to enjoy the patio, and the tasting bar has no seating, but we enjoyed the wine. It was $10 for five wine tastings and the souvenir wine glass. If you return on another day and bring the glass, it is only $5 for five wine tastings. The wines are mostly named after ballroom dances. Since it was October, some of the wines were out of season, but we still had more than enough to choose from - dry white (Promenade), semi-sweet (Sashay), red (ChaCha), port (Bolero counts as two tastings), and a chocolate cherry that tasted just like dessert (Rumba). The flavors were enjoyable. Lunch offerings were three different paninis for $10 each. The Fred Astaire consisted of tavern ham, salami, cheddar cheese, honey mustard, and a great muffuletta spread on sourdough bread with home made potato chips. The Ginger Rogers was turkey, bacon, cheese, thinly sliced apple, sweet onion, cranberry chutney on sourdough bread. The three of us split two delicious paninis. We bought a couple of bottles of wine for later. Wood fired pizzas are also available on select days, but we didn't sample any. There was a larger room where tables and chairs were set up for a benefit for a local teen, and a guitarist/singer was entertaining anyone who cared to listen. It was a nice experience. We wrapped up the souvenir wine glasses in bubble wrap and brought them home to NY on the plane in our carry on.
Headed over the boarder for some wine tastings. Beautiful setting here. Places to sit outside right by the vines. Awesome u shaped bar to get your tastings. Employees were friendly and knowledgeable.
....but after a few good visits, I was turned off. Being 9 months pregnant and unable to drink the wine, I naturally asked for water to drink. My group of around 20 people were going to drink for a few hours, spending a lot of money. I was told to buy bottled water in the fridge. Yeah right. I would have had to buy 10 bottles just to cure my pregnancy thirst over a few hour period...Not to mention, I overheard him tell the same thing to a couple of sober drivers in my group. He finally gave in and gave me (only the pregnant lady) some free tap water after I made a sarcastic stink about it. Want to keep good customers?!? Don't be stingy with the sober drivers!
We enjoyed the wine and ambiance of the place, but would have stayed longer if they would have offered a prepared cheese tray or some sort of appetizers. We were told we could assemble our own from the pacaged goods in the cooler, but we went home to make our own.......
Very nice winery... Attended with a group of ladies on a wine & limo tour. Had a private tasting up in the "board room" as the main room was being held for a private function (wedding). The $10 tasting fee included the wine glass and 5 tastings. For an additional fee, we were able to head down to the bar area for additional tastings.Enjoyed the Sashay and Rumba wines the best!
Attended a wedding outside on the grounds and moved inside to the event center for dinner/dancing. Service was friendly and food was nice. Patio allowed us to enjoy the evening both inside and out. Lovely space.
A group of four us on bicycles riding from St. Croix Falls to Cameron, WI found the Dancing Dragonfly Winery and thought it would be a good place to stop for some food. The place looks absolutely beautiful however, I've never met such rude people in my life. We went to what looked like the dining area and sat down. At least six staff members walked by and never said a word. The menus were at the table. We finally went to the wine bar after sitting for about 10 minutes and sure enough we needed to order at the bar. Not sure why none of the six people who walked by couldn't tell us that. We ordered three $10 sandwiches and asked for a pitcher of ice water. The reply was almost unreal. The bartender looked at us and said, "we sell bottled water in the refrigerated case." Really, we can't even get water with our sandwiches. She then offered us the half pitcher of water that was sitting on the bar. It was about 95 degrees and humid that day and we needed more than just a sip of water. We do a lot of biking and have never been denied water any where we stopped. Most places offer to fill all our water bottles before we leave. We did fill our water bottles in the bathroom. You might be treated better if you arrived in a fancy car, dressed in your Sunday's best, and are ready to spend the day sipping wine. Whomever owns this establishment has put a lot of money into a beautiful piece of property but I doubt it will stay in business unless they find some more polite staff.
