I've been planing this tour for 6 months now the day did not turn out right when we showed up we were late but Katie stopped everything an filed us in on what we had missed she's very knowlagble on all things myrtles..... We're sorry the gift house burned down because we would have loved to get some trinkets from yall but I'll be back someday
My friends and I did a haunted tour at night. The tour guide made the experience a lot of fun. She was very dramatic and mixed in a lot of humor to make the tour very enjoyable. I would recommend you do the night tour when you are in the St. Francisville.
Great staff, great people, comfortable room. Considerate people. We will be going back in April. We visited in January and it was very, very cold but they did everything necessary to keep us comfortable and happy.
Our tour guide was informative. Our check-in was perfect. Our stay was very nice. Breakfast was lovely.
Loved the Friday night mystery tour. My relatives love history and were so impressed with the details of the history of the house. Plus, the mystery tour is more about the "hauntings", so that made it even more special.
The staff was great no doubt about that. Our room was clean and they even let us check in early. Down side it's severly overpriced. I wouldn't stay here again. It was one of those things that past history has sparked curiosity.
The best part of this plantation was the grounds, beautiful moss covered trees, lovely grounds. The mystery tour was interesting, with historic facts yet the hauntings, legends and ghosts...that you have to decide or believe for yourself. The photos we took while touring the grounds turned out beautifully.
Was very interested to see for ourselves if this "plantation" was haunted or not. While not a plantation in my mind's eye, I could see how it was considered one back in the 1800's. I have to say I was not overly impressed with the overall experience and the room we stayed in was adequate. There are no televisions, which was okay, but I prefer showers and our room only had a tub (which can be difficult to use after you attain certain ages . . . lol). I never saw or experienced anything supernatural, but we did not stay in the main manor where most of the hauntings are said to occur. It was interesting, but the various television programs have hyped it up beyond what you really experience - which for us, was nothing.
My friend and I had a wonderful experience. We were greeted with smiles and left wanting to return. The grounds were beautiful. The tour with Lisa was awesome. You could really feel her enthusiasm for Louisiana history. We will most definitely be making a return trip. Very relaxing!!
Only positive thing I have to say is that the house/grounds are beautiful. Really takes you back to the way things were back then.1) when I reserved the room we were promised a ghost tour, not a historic tour and I quote "We reserve spots for all of our guests for the ghost tour" Not true! I ended up paying an additional charge for something that was supposed to be included- not a good way to start off.2) we get to our room and the first thing I noticed is old and out dated the bedding was, very VERY hard mattress, the bathroom had holes in the wall underneath the sink, and the walls are paper thin. We heard a gaggle of girls All. Night. Long. When you pay 115.00 for a room one would expect more out of a room then ratty bedding with a bathroom that clearly needed a good cleaning and fixing up.3) the tour of the house was good, nice tour guide but you can't take pictures inside the house? Seriously? 4) the on-site restaurant staff are beyond rude. The person who sat my husband asked how many would be dining, he said two, the waiter grabbed a menu and walked off. My husband followed but it turned out the host was bringing a dessert menu to another couple and he turned around and asked my husband "what are you doing here? Can't you wait?" then sat us at a table where we saw our waitress only twice 1) to take our order 2) to bring us the check. A nice bus boy took care of us and refilled our drinks and bring us stuff THAT SHE FORGOT. (Food was good, not going to lie)5) and to top everything else off a male maid walked in on us in our room while we were napping before our long ride home an hour before check out without knocking! Seriously? Learn to freaking knock! These people are just skating by on their haunted reputation who only cares about the money they make and not about the guests that stay there. Serious changes need to be made for the prices you charge your guests to stay on the plantation.
