My wife and I visited salida over New Year's Eve. Spiral drive with 4-6" of snow was beautiful. It was decorated like a Christmas tree. Very cool from downtown .
The drive up was very beautiful. Directions to get on the right road were a little comfusing but well worth it.
Great drive. Even a better morning walk with your dog. If you anything in Salida, this ranks as number one (kayaking the river, hitting the bars number 2 and 3).
Climb right up to the top of a peak to look out over the city. This is a must do for us old time Colorado natives when we come to Salida.
great to view Salida from the top of the S drive.. but we went beyond Spiral Drive and drove for an hour up to a secret lake and saw some great scenery and beautiful homes and ranches...
A fun, easy, walk or bike ride to the top of world-famous "Christmas Mountain." There are many trails leading to the overlook at the top where you can get a great view of Salida and the neighboring Sangre de Cristo mountains. You can drive up the road in the summer, but if you can walk, it is a pleasant hike.
Great view of the valley and the mountains. Quick little drive or a challenging hike or bike ride. Don't forget to talk a walk down the river.
a dirt road that goes around to the top of a mountain over looking the town of Salida. We met a 70 year old biker that was having no problem going to the top. very impressive
This drive/hike spirals up a little knob north of Salida. There is a little covered viewing house at the top. It makes a nice hike, bike, or drive for those not up to the about 200' climb.
We made the mistake of heading up here after dinner when there were storms heading in. By the time we got to the top, the winds were really whipping around & rain was coming down. I'd recommend going up before noon.
