Macho temple is a great place for people who want to witness chinese culture and religion.it is also a great place for having photoshoots because of its east asian ambiance. There is no entrance fee, all they wish is to maintain silence in the vicinity.
The City of San Fernando is worth visiting all through out the year. It is like a " jewel " nestled along the coastal region of the North. Ma-Cho temple is mystical and the experience of entering it's premises is so divine. The serenity heals the soul and spirit. It's like going to China without really trying...I suggest you also visit the other beautiful attractions the city offers. You'll probably leave your heart in this city that never fails to inspire
A nice place to visit in San Fernando. Once reached that steep roads end, a nice well maintained temple awaits you. The view on the town is excellent and its a great place to shoot pictures- either from that beautiful temple and of course from the town.
This is not just your ordinary Chinese temple because it is elevated and overlooks the entire San Fernando City of La Union. It has great architecture and has a vast ground for walking or just meditating and finding one's peace.
The attraction appears to be legit. It has that Chinese vibe which makes it more appealing. The place is so peaceful, good for "alone time" and reflection. You can make a wish or pay tribute. You can even ask personal questions which will be answered to you the Chinese way. The place is awesome as it provides a perfect view of West Philippine Sea. I advice you to go and visit this place during weekdays and preferably before sunset as this time isn't crowded and you will feel the sense of peacefulness and relaxation you long. It has no entrance fee (good news) but there are donation boxes in case you wanted to give. Good thing is that a sign that says "No Dating Allowed" in which I see is very appropriate to avoid turning this sacred temple a dating place.
It's actually my first tym to enter in such place,. and to do those incense things.. I don't totally understand the whole activity because it does not explained well by our tour guide.. and i ask one of the tour guide about it and she seems confused also with what we are doing.. Better to know first about the activity before they had us do it! Just Opinion..
The temple complex is certainly worth a visit. There is one beautiful main temple with some lovely smaller buildings on other levels with pretty gardensurrounds. You are allowed inside to take photos and here is some information sheets on the history, which I found very interesting. There is also a wonderful set of statues of the Gods but no information on them. I would have loved to read up on them as well. They obviously have very different characters. The complex in very close the main part of town but only a gateway marks the entrance on the main road. The actual complex is up the hill a a hundred meters or so. I travelled past the gate for several months before I noticed. Disadvantage of travelling by Trike as you can't see up at all. As the road up is fairly steep not all trikes will take you up, especially if there is more than one of travelling. The ground are steep with stairs to everything. So don't arrive in the middle of the day and not expect to get a bit sweaty. For the generic there is also a road that leads up from the complex to a lookout of the north eastern part of San Fernando.Enjoy - I did.
Just a short trip to visit our office branch in La Union,I still find time to visit Ma-Cho Temple as it was very near our office.a snap of relaxation after my trip.Definitely, i must come back to this province and stay longerand explore more.
My review would be very simple. If you want quiet time, something close to a meditation, then this is the place to go. Just a few minutes walk from the San Fernando Plaza, The Ma-cho Temple is open to everybody... but take note: NO DATING ALLOWED :) this is posted in every tree trunk in the area. Yeah, any Temple deserves respect. Not a place for dating and that kind of stuff. It is very breezy here, a relief from the summer heat. And if you go up the stairs to the Temple you will have a view of the ocean nearby. Not much to do, but of course that's because this is a Temple. I especially liked the water lilies by the fountain... and the benches under the trees. I can sit there forever and enjoy the tranquility... away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
My husband is Chinese, we lighted insence sticks. The place is not attractive, quite dull but it's a place of worship. We had to look for it because my husband will not go home without paying his respect.
