It was a nice short walk out to the water. I would recommend it if in the area. Beautiful views of the water.
The Saugerties Lighthouse is the best place to enjoy the Hudson River in all its glory. There is a short trail out to the lighthouse that takes 10 minutes. Look for eagles.
Visiting a lighthouse is a special experince, and this being an historic and very pictuesque one make even more so. The short hike from the parking lot adds just enough adventure and transition to the antique world of when the lighthouse was built. To get the fullest experience, reserve ahead on their website to stay overnight. As others have noted, note the tidal times.Special note I learned by unfortunate experience: Do not try to mountain or other bicycle through the path. There are very strong thorns in the underbrush that will take out any tires.
My friend and I took a little walk get some fresh air and a little sightseeing, we really enjoyed it. a lot of history there. it's right on the Hudson River so you can take lots of cool pictures, then we turned back around to walk the half mile back, taking more pictures of our little adventure. we really enjoyed the walk, we had so much fun didn't even notice we walked a little over a mile, they have an outhouse if you need to go to the bathroom. The walk is something really cool to do, and the lighthouse and the Hudson river go hand in hand. I'm totally ready for the peace and serenity. let's do it again. I ready, they also host parties, and a little B&B. I'd say it's worth a time.. Enjoy!!!!!! :)
This is a must see spot in Saugerties. Check the tide chart, as the trail might be a little wet at high tide. It can be muddy as well, but most of the time it is a pleasant little hike to a beautiful spot on the Hudson. If the weather is nice, bring a lunch and a bottle of wine and enjoy the deck or the beach. Often there are bald eagles gliding over the river.
Nice place to visit on a good day. The building is in pretty good repair and there's a big deck where you can get some nice pictures. You can also get to the light house by boat if you want to go that route. The walk to the light house is a little rugged with quite a bit of sand and washed up brush, so wheelchair accessibility is questionable. It could be done, but it would be a chore without wider wheels. There are tours in the warm months.
An easy half mile walk from the car park and you get the most wonderful views of the Hudson River valley. There are picnic tables and a public toilet so well worth taking a packed lunch and making the most of this beautiful location.
This is a classic, historic lighthouse on an island in the Hudson river. there's a short hike (maybe 1/2 a mile) out to it and its worth the trip for the views up and across the river.
If your in Saugerties this is a good spot to visit and have a small picnic! Easy short hike for any age! Great views of the river and surrounding area! Not much parking is the only down side!
The lighthouse is beautiful. You can boat/kayak to it, you can hike to it if you catch the tide right you can stay there as a B & B.
