Visited mid october weekend. The park wasn't busy so no trouble finding parking and accessing the lookout points. Favorite part was watching the eagles fly very closely over head from all of the lookout points. View of the Mississippi river is also breathtaking. Went with kids so couldn't take advantage of the hiking trails but this would be a nice park to hike in. Only negative was that the park office was closed during the day so no one to ask for guidance but they did have pamphlet maps of the park outside of the office door.
First time visiting this beautiful place. We were there on Sunday Oct 19th, the views are gorgeous, I loved the yellow leaves everywhere and the incredible views of the Mississippi! If you can visit this place during fall, do it! It is a wonderful time to go and see the leaves changing and the bright reds, oranges and yellows!
the park and trails were well organized / our hike was great - good vistas and foliage. Our mistake - we were 2 to 3 weeks late to see the fall colors. We will return next year during the first or second week of October. We really enjoyed our time at the Park.
i'm obviously out of shape. the park is pretty, leaves changing, many trails, very clean. overlook is very nice. but the trails killed me. lots of incline and steps on many. will go back but need to get in shape first!! ha
Beautiful in the fall and full of life in the spring! They have plenty of trails to walk and is right next to the beautiful and mighty Mississippi River and is only a few miles from downtown Savanna,IL and small River Town of Sabula, IA
We stopped here on the way home from Galena and wished for more time. The State park is very wooded full of steep hills that climb to panoramic views of Mississippi River. There were several hiking trails that looked to be challenging but we were not prepared for hiking. Picnic areas are plentiful and very pretty.
We stopped for an overnight during one of the cooler nights in Sept. Plenty of camping spots open. Nice showers. Everything is well maintained.
It's a beautiful scenic park along the Mississippi River in Illinois. Nice hikes with some hills. Camping and picnic areas available.
We drove through this State Park to see if it would be someplace we would like to stay. It has very nice sites and wonderful scenery. We cant wait to return and stay!
Great Camp Hosts, very friendly and knowledgable about the area. Great space to hang in with the River and the woods all in one place. Will be my place to come stay now am moving out of the area.
