I have to admit walking by few times. then on Christmas day we happen to be visiting the city center and we walked in. It is beautiful cathedral as you might find in europe(smaller) but really something to see. because it is a working church you need to be cautious with photos at time. But I do recommend it.The wood work in this place is really something to look observe. You only need max. 1 hr.
We happened to see this cathedral mentioned somewhere peripherally, not as a major attraction, but were fortunate to be there on a Sunday morning for the free tour. Excellent and informative. If you are a church buff (as my friends and I are), you will love it. We toured the cathedral and then attended the Mass following to complete the visit.
市区最大的教堂,好几个街区以外都能看到尖顶,开放时间很长,正好赶上里面有集体弥撒,看来这一区的教徒很多。内部装潢在美国清教徒为主的教派里,算是富丽堂皇级别的了
The cathedral is magnificent and calls to mind the great cathedrals of Europe. If you can arrange to be there when the choir performs, do it. The voices and pipe organ carry you to an enchanting, medieval place. It is worth the visit, whether you are religious or not.
When visiting the capitol, we walked by to also see this historic cathedral, Construction started on this cathedral in 1887. It is architecturally interesting to see. The congregation is still very active.
We came by during our stroll through the city and gave it a chance. As soon we were inside we were stunned. This Cathedral is impressive and I was sitting there with an open mouth. The place was so quiet, so peaceful (and I am not religious at all), I could have been sitting there for hours.
I happened upon this church while my rapid transit train passed the station. I jumped off the train at the Cathedral stop and happened upon a wedding party that was taking pictures outside of the groom and bride and family members. The church is eminently camera worthy and I got a few nice pictures of the exterior.I walked in (the doors were open and there was no service going on) and the interior took my breath away. Beautiful stained glass windows, ornate altar in the style of some of the European churches I had seen in Austria and Germany. The hush and quiet was very relaxing as I sat on a pew and contemplated the deep steepled roof and the ornate altar. There was something very spiritually calming in a quiet church! The Church is off the Rapid Transit line - I was taking the Blue line from I-80 Watt to Meadow-view. This church is definitely worth a stop when you are walking around downtown Sacramento.
Attend a Mass and enjoy the sanctuary for peace and love. Even if you are not of "faith" you will feel the presence of something very special. A land mark of Sacremento.
This building is gorgeous, which is incredible since it's in a very "hip" area! What a peaceful place to sit and reflect outside on a beautiful NorCal day!
They were between two weddings, so I was able to run in for a look. It is truly a beautiful cathedral. The dome ceiling and alter were quite impressive.
