Ok, so this really is our family's favorite place to go in San Antonio. We go to all their special events for adults and for kids/families. We go for picnics and to take lovely strolls. We go just to feed the ducks in the pond. So it only made sense to have my birthday/vow renewal event there. Shimeyka Olivares, the Special Events and Rentals Manager, is just amazing and so very helpful. We decided upon the Auld House due to the time of year's unpredictable weather. The cabin's indoors were so elegant and the covered patio in the back was perfect! The gardens are so beautiful, even in Winter! Thank you, Shimeyka and everyone at the Gardens, you made my dreams come true!
We played hooked at a seminar and a group of us went to visit the Botanical Gardens. They are so beautiful. There are lots of steps so if you have trouble walking this might not be the best place for you. We enjoyed a refreshing snack in their small snack bar. We took lots of photos. If you want to take some beautiful photos of your family, visit this place.
It offers a lot of neat little niche garden areas. It can be a very hot outing in the heat of summer. Make sure to bring lots of water.
Sping had sprung as we dined outside in the tent as it was such a beautiful day. Fresh soups and lite fare enhanced the menu. This was a repeat lunch as we had enjoyed good food with prompt and pleasant service an earlier birthday celebration on a prior visit.
My friends and I had a peaceful stroll through the amazing gardens and enjoyed the variety! It was well designed and had a lot of different types of plants. We recommend it very much!
We try to find places to enjoy our daily walk and the botanical gardens "fits the bill". I have to say it's probably one of the best we have seen. There are outside gardens including the three Eco zones of Texas. One interesting exhibit is six different examples of landscaping you can do on you property. There is also glass in closed areas with tropical plants from around the world. The fern grotto has fog and a mini waterfall you can walk under. Also if your a bird watcher bring your binoculars. Another interesting area is a wildlife watching area were you stand behind one way glass to view wildlife without disturbing them. If your hungry after your walk they have a small restaurant.
I like botanical gardens in general and San Antonio garden was no exception. I cannot say that it had any significant memorable highlights, but yet it quenched my spiritual need for peace and quiet.
More of a park like setting - not a lot of elaborate displays or educational exhibits. Beautiful nonetheless. They host awesome events such as Moonlight in Gardens and live music events. Those are well worth the price of admission.
Love this place. So peaceful, there is a section that they rebuilt the swampy woodlands from eastern Texas and it is gorgeous. The atriums that house all the different climate types and the plants from those climates are amazing. Shakespeare in the Park was awesome. I loved seeing this version of Hamlet. The rose garden smells amazing. Thoroughly suggest this place.
There are an incredible array of plants on display. The walking paths are gentle with lots of stopping points with benches. There are also great exhibits. We stopped in when they had an incredible exhibit of lego art. It was pretty amazing. The Botanical Garden is a great place to spend an afternoon. You can even have lunch.
