This is a lovely, fairly large, park along the river in the city. It was filled with tourists, local bohemians, local couples, musicians, and people enjoying the outdoors. Some nice statues and trees. It is convenient to shopping and the metro. The park contains the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, which is housed in the same building as the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo. Palacio Bruna is opposite the park on Merced Street. Distinctive features of the park are its three lines of orientalis trees. If this review is helpful then please indicate so below.
We walked through the park on several occasions going to/from our hotel just across the street. Lots of families hanging out on weekends. Very pleasant and pretty park.
No, I dont own it, but felt like it was my home park for the week. I stayed at Ismael 312 Hotel right by this park. It is nice for walking, people watching, and just sitting on one of the many benches in the shade after a day of sightseeing.
Quiet much of the week but buzzing on Sundays with family activity. Great place to walk, sit, people watch
Beautiful tall trees, safe and well-maintained. We returned to the park several times to stroll after a bite or to get a taste of "green" in the city. Fun to watch the cities and get a glimpse of little surprises in the park. Castillo Forestal, across from the Museo Bellas Artes, is a must. Plenty of parks if you have kids and soft, comfy grass if you want a nap, have a picnic or even snuggle.
Chilean people really enjoy laying under the shadow of the trees for the siesta. This park is good for walking, jogging, resting or just to sit and relax.
Open space, large trees, shady walk ways beautiful fountains. In the city but you feel cut off from the traffic and sounds of the city. Monuments, fountains everywhere you look
This park is a respite in the heat of the day and it was fun to watch the people who live here play with their kids and dogs. There is some interesting public art scattered about.
Large, beautiful, lush, tree-shaded park with well kept paths, benches and fountain/statuary. My 2 favorite features of the park are the cluster of dog-houses for a few lucky strays and the excellent restaurant Castillo Forestal.
The park forestal cover the whole of down town Santiago, and it was a pleasant way to walk from barrio bellavista to the Plaza de Armas. The park has many sculptures, fountains and many people strolling .
