A really nice way to pass an hour or so, being shown the workings of a Cretan olive farmhouse from bygone days, and the opportunity to buy some of the very best olive oil, tapenade and other products. Anyone staying in the Mirabello Hotel and Village is well placed as it's literally a couple of hundred yards down the road.

Despite having been to the mirabello hotel twice before we had never made it to the olive oil farm before, but I wished we had been sooner!We were greeted by very friendly staff who gave us generous measures of raki and plenty of local delicacies to sample which were delicious. There were lots of products to buy as gifts and for ourselves. I can especially recommend the lip balms!Well worth a visit. We will be going back again next year!

An absolute must-see in Ag Nik! It was fascinating and beautiful. Costa, the guide, was really very friendly and interesting and really made the place come to life. There are many tasters to have and there are so many interesting products to buy. We bought loads and it came to a ridiculously cheap amount.

I'm so glad we visited. It was only up the road from our hotel and worth a trip. We arrived approximately 10.00am and were the only visitors but were greeted by Abi their friendly and playful little dog! The "tour" cost 1.50 euros. They showed us around the herb garden and explained how the olive oil and wine used to be produced many years ago. We learnt what makes olive oil "extra virgin". We stopped to say hello to the donkey who treads the mill and admired the old weaving loom.We were left to enjoy a tasting of the various oils, vinegars and other produce and given complimentary Raki - no pressure to buy. We bought extra virgin olive oil in jars with hand made pottery labels hand painted with olives but stupidly, (and I really should know better having travelled quite a bit), I put these in my hand luggage so they were confiscated at the airport as over the 100ml limit!! Doh!Other products for sale were olive oil soaps, pasta sauces and pastes as well as a good selection of hand made pottery.This was a very interesting and enjoyable half hour stop off even for small children. The people there were very friendly and happy to answer our questions. I would recommend it.

A true snapshot of an older Crete which is disappearing with each visit we make. Great handicrafts, reasonably prices and an extremely authentic feel to the adjacent workshop. Highly recommended.

We were told by our rep to go and visit the olive farm as we wouldn't regret it, he was right.It was only a 5 minute walk from our hotel (the Mirabello) and for 1.5€ was worth the visit.It was a wonderful insight to how local produce was made before machinery. It's family run, who were friendly and spoke good English.At the end of the experience there's a well stocked shop selling their produce from olive oil to soaps to sauces to raki, basically any Cretan product you wanted. It was well worth the visit and a nice way to spend an hour or so.

Hello,Thank you for the review, just want to inform you and all of our future guests that when requested, we give tours daily from 9.30 to 18.30 except Sundays which is 10.00 to 13.00.The small token of 1.50€ would be for the whole experience of guiding (around the museum and down to the olive farm), collecting herbs and tasting all of our products, including Raki :D.If you are still in Mirabello and have some time, we would be more than glad to show you around!

I have just spent the most delightful couple of hours here learning to make dolmades and tsatsiki interspersed with drinking Raki! Vespina was so lovely, friendly and very talented! Having made and cooked the dolmades, we ate them with the tsatsiki - delicious! I am looking forward to making these with my grandchildren when I return home. Their produce is wonderful and very reasonably priced and the pottery makes beautiful presents. Thank you Vespina and Costas. See you next year!
