Beautiful beach with parking. Dog beach on one side. Good for jogging if tide is out. You access the beach also from Mesa Lane by a long staircase. There is a nice restaurant on the beach
What a delight to find a beach where dogs are leash-free! A must if you have a dog, and the humans get to enjoy a wonderful beach as well!
North beach for dogs on leash and South beach for off leash. Great option for people with all sorts of dogs. Most small dogs were on the North beach.
We're not dog people but I can see the draw if you are. Dogs run free...oh to be a dog here! But alas, despite the dogs, it was a beautiful place to see before we left Santa Barbara. We found a little sandy spot along the cliffs and hung out enjoying the views and sounds. Lots of rocks, really unique ones. Glad we stopped and highly recommend the beach dogs or no dogs.
There are very few beaches in the area where the dogs are allowed off leash, so this beach can get pretty crowded, especially in the evening and weekends. Parking can be tricky, but the dogs love it here. There is a self serve dog washing station here, which includes everything from shampoo, conditioner and dryers. Very convenient. A beautiful beach, great place for dogs and families.
Parking is tough and if you go there on a sunny Saturday it can be crowded (but where isn't). If the accommodations were a bit better I would give a higher rating.
We were there in the evening to check out a project my husband's company is bidding on. The weather was perfect and we were able to walk on the beach and just enjoy the evening and the smell of the ocean. Plenty of parking and a very nice restaurant if you are interested.
I try to get to this beach as often as I can because you are allowed to have your dog off-leash. I've never had any problems with aggressive dogs, but many owners are not good about keeping an eye on their dogs and picking up after them - or worse, leaving their poo-bags on the beach for them to wash out to sea! There are also quite a few times when there were people who were clearly afraid of dogs making a fuss. If you don't like dogs, are afraid of them, or are going to freak out if one comes up to you off-leash, GO TO ANOTHER BEACH!!! Otherwise, enjoy the pooches frolicking in the sand and surf.
Yes, this is a walking beach on one end due to dog poo, and a views beach on the other due to no dog poo. Really, its a pretty beach, dont miss it and you get to see all the happy dogs. Behind the restaurant is a cool as rock staircase built from rocks off the beach, and its amazing really. The beach is worth seeing that alone. The views are cool, and it seemed slow there so seems like a good beach to beat the crowds at...
On beach days the parking lot overflows with angry motorists willing to slit each other's throats for a parking spot. Not worth it for the amount of urban litter that the same people leave on the beach and grounds.
