A short approx 2.5kms mostly uphill and lots of stairs. The path is well maintained and the view from the top is spectacular especially on a sunny day. Beware if it's the slightest bit wet the stairs are metal and could be slippery. You could even take a picnic up there it would be lovely.
The views from the lookout at the top of tomaree mountain are breathtaking. Port Stephens is magnificent but also up the coast and the Islands to the north. Fairly steep gradient at times but a slow walk will take between 40-60 mins. Then a walk out to the point at the bottom of the mountain to see the WWII gun emplacements is an interesting excursion.
Took the Tomaree Headland walk on the weekend for a first time in a long while, the path is nice and easy to navigate and I would descrbe it as an Easy to Medium walk suitable for most ages. The Views from the top are spectacular and certainly worth the effort. I would suggest planning for early morning or late afternoon as it could get quite humid or hot depending on the time of day. I would recomend wearing some sensible footware, joggers, runners, etc
Have been here before & climbed the mountain to witness spectacular views. Back again now & brings great memories and nothing changed, still wonderful to see!Looking down at the water seeing a range of Aqua colours still amazes me. Def worth the climb or walk around the point on the bike trail.
This has the most splendid 360 deg views of Port Stephens. It can be a bit difficult climb for some. The path is good then a lot of steps. Nice views on the way up also, but truly magnificent when you reach the top. Well worth doing. I generally allow one & a half hours to do this. It is in a national park, so no dogs allowed.
We went up carrying our 7 month old baby in a carrier, Good workout, a great view once you get to the top, only thing that we found good about Shoalbay,
Breath taking sceneries, great path for walking or running. There's a few steps to climb and some areas are steep but worth the climb! Probably best to do in the morning to avoid the heat.
Very tough climb, but worth the view! The water looked amazing from the top and the weather was great for the hike!
perfect hike for an active couple- reaching the summit is just breathtaking, amazing sights to be seen, not too long of a walk so great for all fitness levels and well worth it once you reach the top!!
Just do your own pace and you'll get there. Lots of other walkers huffing and puffing and everyone is very friendly and its nice knowing that you can jump into cool water at the bay on your return. The gun emplacements and historical display are fascinating and the "final ascent" brings you to incredible views
