If you ever end up driving along Trans-Canada Hwy (#1) between Revelstoke and Kamloops, BC, do yourself a favour. Stop at D. Dutchmen Dairy. Savour the best ice cream in the vicinity, enjoy the garden and visit their little "zoo".
Lovely drive from Vernon to Sicamous- great scenery. Visited with grandchildren who loved the animals and also climbing on the big tractor- plenty to see and wonderful ice-cream too!!
Nice place to stop for an ice cream, and it's inexpensive. The whole ice cream shop setup is really inefficient. If there's a line, be ready to wait a long time in the virtually non-airconditioned building. Stick with the more conventional flavours. The mango ice cream we had was a terrible artificial flavour. The raspberry cheesecake I had was excellent.
we stopped here 10 years ago and liked the ice cream and touring the grounds..they had a camel then now they have Llamas or Alpacas not sure which...anyways there is lots of variety to choose from. You can tell its farm fresh ice cream cause it tastes different then what you get in a usual ice cream cone. lots of line ups but worth the wait and the grounds were still nice to tour ..liked the eating area out front and nice hanging baskets..good produce market across the street and some other stores
This is always a much anticipated stop for whole family. Nice break on journey through the interior. First class ice cream, great service. Nice grounds as well. Kids love eating ice cream and walking around the property, many animals to see - cows, donkeys, chickens, peacocks.Cash only, no credit or debit accepted.
We stopped here on our drive from Kelowna to Calgary. There was a large green space close by for the dogs to roam around, while the humans enjoyed our ice cream. There was nothing special about the ice cream, but it was good. Cash only though. And the petting farm was an added bonus for sure. Cute little area. Yummy chocolate milk too.
Fresh milk with homemade ice cream made from fresh cream. Not overly sweet. Best milkshake on the planet! Place is always filled with other very happy customers but the service is still quick. We stop here everytime we pass through. We usually also pick up for the road: incredible chocolate milk in a cool reusable glass milk container that I keep, and fresh made specialty cheeses (smokey jack is our favourite so far). All at great prices for what you get. Convenient fresh fruit shop across the street for other goodies. We look forward to it everytime!
With fresh homemade icecream, this is a great place to stop while in transit between salmon arm and revelstoke. There is even a fun little petting zoo to entertain while your finish your icecream cone!
If you like quality taste and smooth texture ice cream ,made fron real cream....then this is the place to get it! A very well run family business/farm! And a great place to get out of the car and have a look around at the cows and young calves!
After years of annual stops at this dairy, we will not go there again. We used to look forward to this stop on our way to or from somewhere but this last time was so disappointing. The ice cream just wasnt very good. We has 3 different flavours and they actually were terrible. The 'cookie dough' scoop was just vanilla with a speck of dough in it and the butter pecan had a tiny piece of nut. We didnt finish any of it. It was not a treat like it used to be. Too bad.
