Went here on the 13th of February on our second day in Stuttgart. This is absolutely amazing and well worth the visit. Although still in transition from winter to spring it was still beautiful to see. Just big enough to be easy to walk round and plenty for everyone to see. Every aspect of it is well laid out and makes it interesting to see all the way through. Very easy to get to from the city centre by public transport. Also plenty of parking for those driving. I would say that you should leave a few hours to see everything. We were there for 2 and a half hours and didn't get to see everything we wanted to see as we had a train to catch. It's well worth the time to spend.
I visited here with my sister. We also booked us an animal visit with the two hippos Rosie and Mike. What a great experience and the fee was very agreeable since the day pass of the zoo and botanical garden is included with the animal visit. The Caretaker took the time to explain us facts about the animals.we also could feed them, touch them and of course fotograph them.
Our visit was end of August 2014, it's a wonderful place to spend a day. excellent arrangement with both Botanic garden and a Zoo at the same palace, something for everyone. Public Tram stops right in front of the entrance.
This is a very nice zoo but I think it is the botanical garden that makes it so special. Even during a late winter visit there is so much too see, and at this time of year, there aren't any crowds. The animals seemed happier than those at some zoos I've visited. By far my favorite part though was the arboretums and tropical green houses. The steamy temperatures, lush foliage and blooming flowers were the boost of spring that I needed.
We visited here on a whim and were so pleased we did - the zoo is just the right size for exploring in a few hours, with plenty to see, and the gardens are beautiful. As all the shops in Stuttgart close on a Sunday, it is worth timing your visit here to then as I am fairly sure the zoo and gardens are open.
A MUST when visiting Stuttgart or southern Germany! From the giant Orangutan, Mountain Guerrillas, and other primates to the aquatic Seals, Sea Lions, Sharks and general Aquarium, to the plains game, reptiles, and arachnid exhibits...you need ALL DAY to explore the meticulously kept grounds and botanical gardens. BRING WATER as it is hard to come by, and I suggest climbing your way to the top of the grounds and then winding your way down to the bottom...you will cover MILES of pathway and will have something delightful to see at every turn. Enjoy!!
Really awesome this zoo !!!! I like verry much . The animals are beautifull and the plants are grate !!!
This is a great value day out for families and couples alike. It's a big zoo with lots to see. The grounds are beautiful and the architecture very pretty. Would definitely recommend!
big zoo with great views to the northeast part of stuttgart. rosenhoehepark beside is also worth to visit.
Get up close and personal. The animals and other exhibits are much more accessible than USA zoos. I always get worn out before I see averything. I have been there several times. Love it in Spring and Fall.
