Stockton Market is a wonderful place right on Bridge Street in downtown Stockton. The vendors change frequently, and there are some new places that are noteworthy. Some of the older mainstays are Metropolitan Seafood, very fresh seafood and a great variety, Madelena's Cheesecake (try the pumpkin, which is delicious) and the Mexican and Ice Cream places. Newer t the market are some interesting places such as a brick oven pizza stand and Milk House Organics, which has wonderful veggies and soaps. Farleys of New Hope also has a stand with a great selection of cookbooks, many of which feature vegetarian options. As mentioned by other reviewers, prices are high but not unreasonable for small local vendors. Be sure to walk around the corner of the building for great coffees and teas, a creperie and a juicebar.
If I were only rating the edibles, I'd easily give them a 5 rating. But the prices are really outrageous. They seem pretty busy, so people are buying. But not me, anymore. Used to love going there when the prices were more down to earth.
These vendors know their wares intimately. Choices are abundant and healthy; tastings such as cheese, olive oil, tapenades, are shear fun. Feel free to taste and ask questions. Enjoy BBQ or fresh oysters for lunch..
Let me begin by saying that if your primary concern with food is the price then this market isn't for you. I can't afford to shop here every week but as a treat on occasion this place is my idea of heaven. I've spent the past 40 years searching for REAL quality food in this area to no avail until now. Even most of what Whole Foods has to offer is mediocre. High quality food costs money. There's no getting around it. I went here for the first time this weekend and was transfixed. The market is small and has tons of charm and the vendors are very friendly. I had pit beef from More Than Q and it was beyond any barbeque I've ever tasted. Everything is amazing. The cheesecake, pastries, bread, beef etc. I can't wait to go back and sample some of the other offerings.
Add the Stockton Market to your bucket list of markets to see. This market houses over 25 venders who offer a wide selection of fabulous specialty items, baked goods, sweets, organic produce and meats, fresh fish, and even Texas style barbecue ribs (which looked really good.) According to the sign out front, they are only open on Saturdays and Sundays. The next time we’re in the area on a weekend we’ll stop by and definitely save room for snacks or lunch.
You buy fresh organic produce and meats as well as homemade chilies and soups, homemade pates and other assorted goodies. But don't miss the barbecue. It is fabulous.
While it does not have a huge selection, the Stockton Market is well worth the visit. Our favorites are Gravity Hill Farms (Garlic Scapes in spring and Fresh Garlic in Summer are the best!) Market Pizza serves great thin crust pizza, BBQ place is worth a lunch, I get thick sliced smoked bacon and cheeses from Highland Gourmet and the Macaroon stand is a worthy indulgence. Stockton is a hopping place on the weekend (for such a small town) and the Market is one of the main reasons. We live only a mile away, so it's an easy visit, but it is definitely worthy of a longer drive to visit.
lots of food vendors in this trendy, indoor marketplace. Fresh fish to buy. BBQ to eat right there. Mexican food too. Great coffee and bake shop too. some other non-food vendors too, like Farley s Bookstore from New Hope, PA. Open limited hours, on weekends only.
We love shopping and eating at the market. Fresh veggies and meats--check. Awesome fish market--check. Crepes--even gluten free--check. Awesome chocolate and macaroons--check. Artisanal cheese and jams--check. Cafe, Juice Bar, Tea Shop--check. BBQ and Mexican joints--check. Best homemade ice cream--check. Seriously, I regret sharing this all with you, but hey, the more the merrier--see you on the weekend.
