This is a hidden gem--doesn't look like a winery, right on the main street in Solano Beach. The tasting was reasonable--$10 and seems like we had 6 -7 tastes. All of the wines were quite good, even the whites.
Had a great time here on a Friday night with friends. The winery is really cute and has a very relaxed feel. If I lived in the area I would come here often, it appears that many locals do come here because the place was busy on Fri night. Would recommend checking this place out if you are in the area and like wine!!
Love Carruth! Always friendly and attentive staff. A good spot for a drink with your other half or some friends. You can bring your dog and drink wine. Need I say more!
My wife and I are members and we love this place. The wine is great and so is the staff. They are friendly and very helpful. Make sure to become a member and you get tasting for free. We try to get to Carruth once a week.
Had the pleasure of visiting Carruth Cellar's for Yelp's Red Tide Event. They're kind of hidden off of Cedros Ave, up a driveway. Go find them! They've got a cute little setup. On the right side of the business, is their tasting area, with barrels lining the walls. Then they've got a central open space, good for mingling. Upstairs in the loft area you can find a pool table and comfortable loungey couches. I really enjoyed their Red Tide table wine, but at $35/bottle, I didn't purchase one. I think that price-point is a little high. Their other wines were really good too, though. I checked out their wine club and it does have a lot to offer, things like: free tastings for yourself and a guest every time you stop by, one bottle of wine to pick up per month, and 20% discount on all purchases, just to name a few). It costs $35 a month; again, a little pricey in my opinion (when compared to Temecula), but as long as you visited the winery often and took advantage of their free tastings, I could totally see it paying for itself.I've recommended this winery to my co-workers and strongly suggest you stop by and check them out!
It was crowded but the staff did a good job of attending to everyone. While I'm not used to paying anything for tastings, they charge $10, however, they were tasting a very large number of wines and were very generous with the pours, so it was quite worth it. My favorite wine was the Barbera.
How often can you play at a winery! We have crushed grapes, helped bottle, and done almost anything you can do and be part of the wine making process. My wife and I are members, so we go a lot for our free tastings and their special events. Of course we have missed every movie night, but we will get that done as well. The barrel tasting is a blast! The staff is amazing with great knowledge of the wines, their origin and just really nice friendly people! The owner Adam has a great talent for making wine, but must also have a great talent for attracting top talent because his staff makes the visit in this awesome setting something you just want to come back and do again. Dog friendly is also a plus. Somehow dogs just fit at a winery.
Wow, what a great place!!; If you love wine you will loves this place, get an close and upfront introduction to winemaking while you sample the fine wines made on site.I would like to visit more often than I can.Their wine club is really good, including invitations to special events!Plus before or after the whole Cedros Ave experience shops and restaurants is unique.
I LOVE this place. My fiance and I stopped here on the Winery Train Tour with San Diego Beer and Wine Tours, and it was awesome. I love the location (just a short walk from the Solana Beach train station and across from the Belly Up).The whole crew there was really fun, and they have cool events like movie night once a month. We tasted several amazing wines and got a behind the scenes tour of the wine making process (courtesy of Mitchell). I bought a bottle of wine after the tasting and will definitely be going back.Who knew there was this hidden gem tucked in Solana Beach? I love the motto of the company, "Love and Gratitude." It was a phenomenal experience all around!
We ended up trying Carruth Winery based on a Groupon deal and now we're a member of their wine club. We'll be back again and again. Their hours are great since they are open until 9PM except on Sunday. This gives you a chance to go over and taste wines in the evening or have a taste before dinner. Now about the wines. We enjoy good drinking wines (under 5 years to maturity) and Carruth has just that. They offer Zinfandel, Barbera, Cab, Malbec, Petite Sirah, Tempranillo, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The reds are a little better than the whites with the Malbec and Cab very nice. The staff is very helpful and pleasant and the wine club offers various levels (2,4,6 or 12 bottle levels). With the wine club membership you get free tastings which is great if you live close by, it's like a happy hour you don't have to pay for.
