Add this to your bucket list. You will be glad you did! The perfect get-a-way for family, friends, couples, groups, parties, etc. The banquet room holds 350 comfortably. It has a nice stage for a band or DJ. For business or leisure, this resort is fantastic year round. Don't delay, schedule your stay & play the day away!
The last time we camped here it was Bob's Riverside Resort and the place was pretty dumpy. Of course, that was about 12-13 years ago. The new owners - still in Bob's family - have poured tons of money into making this a vacation destination. The trees in the RV area are young so there isn't any shade and the sites are quite close together. The concrete pad for the picnic table is a nice touch. The fire pit is a little too deep (one other reviewer mentioned that). The bathroom/shower building should have a fan to pull out moisture and this building should be cleaned BEFORE people get up in the morning, not during peak use time. Charging $1.00 for a 6-minute shower was a bit much considering that this is a pretty pricey place to begin with. We had the Friday fish fry in the restaurant and that was spot on. The view of the Wisconsin River outside the dining room window was lovely. The camp store is well stocked. Staff is friendly.
This resort has been here for years....However it is Now a brand new facility with great food and staff I enjoied the fish fry Friday and a great steak on Saturday..Drinks at the bar an watch the river go by........................
It was fun to watch the families (with an average age of 30) and friends try to stay cool outside while we ate good food inside. Definitely a 'bar' food feel, but the food was good.
What a beautiful bar/resturant right on the Wisconsin River!! We went down on a weekend, ate supper and stuck around for some Karaoke!! It was so much fun, and the setting is picturesque! Plus, the woman DJing made us feel like Rockstars!
I had canoed & camped along the Wisconsin River last summer, however this summer when planning our trip the river was quite swollen from all the rain, rendering us unable to camp on sand bars. We were advised by the lovely people whom work & run WRR that it would probably be better for us to rent a camp site & canoe through the company & the rentals that they offer. This was very favorable for us! They were extremely helpful & very kind. Mickey, the man who dropped us & the canoes off upstream was fantastic, he got us all really excited & ampt up to go on our canoeing journey! Would recommend in a heartbeat - very disappointed that I won't get another canoeing & camping experience with them before I head back home! The bathrooms were as clean as camp bathrooms will get, the portapottys near the camp sites were also fantastically tendered too.
We visit several times every summer and unfortunately our secret is getting out. Great family run place that gets better every year with the Shifflet family constantly improving the resort. Close to art and theatre, right on the glorious river banks and far from city pretension with luxuries close enough by.
This is a great place that offers so much to do! This is where a big group of my friends go camping every year. This June was our 3rd year camping here for a weekend, and we have had an excellent experience each time. This year there were about 18 of us, and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. They have canoes you can take out on the river and also tubes you can rent for $15 per tube. This is so fun.. you can bring coolers and chill out on the lake all day. There is a shuttle bus that brings you and the tubes up the river, then you end up right at the campsite at the end of it. We originally had reserved tubes for Saturday, but it was chilly and ended up raining all day long. We talked to the front desk staff and they had no problem switching us to Sunday to tube because they weather was supposed to be much nicer. They really try to do everything they can to make your experience there a great one. There is also a bar/ restaurant in the main lobby area. We didn't eat there at all, but it looks very nice and is very well kept. The restrooms and showers are SO clean and spacious. It is 1 dollar for a 5 min. hot shower. The campsites are also very well kept and big! There is also a swimming pool and volleyball net.I recommend this campsite to everyone who is looking for a nice, friendly, beautiful campground.
We had a good time at our campsite itself but we were not too impressed with the employees or the way the camp was ran. They were not that friendly and it was almost impossible for us to find a way to do a float trip with our own kayaks. The first lady just flat out told us that they don't help with shuttling people with their own kayaks. Finally after asking for the fourth time about different possible options so we can still use our own kayaks, somebody gave us a phone number to a different company who would shuttle us. BEWARE!! THIS RESORT DOES NOT TRY TO WORK WITH YOU AT ALL IF YOU HAVE YOUR OWN KAYAK OR CANOE. They also charge you a dollar for five minutes of use of the showers. (Never saw that before) You would think that showers would be included in the camping price! There were also no trash cans near our campsite. I think they need to reevaluate some of the way they do things here.
We have stayed here 3 times in the last few years. This time was for a wedding. Friends got married with about 250 guests in the banquet hall, and at least 60 staying over at the grounds.I think the pool is clean, the bathrooms were kept up ok.A shower is $1.00 for 6 min, and the ask that you shower before you use the pool. ????The camping was a bit over priced, as was the canoe rentals. The sites along the river for RV are way overpriced. The fire rings are deep in the ground, and this is a little dangerous for children and makes it harder to get the fire started, but after its going its ok, just watch the small children. We had one adult almost fall into the pit. It is like 1 foot deepThe food and drink in the restaurant and bar were very reasonable.Wood was a bit overpriced too, we bought it on hwy 14 much cheaperThe sites for tents way past the permanent sites were nice, but the rest of the sites had absolutly no trees. They planted trees, but not big enough, and in the wrong places, to create shade for these sites. I suppose they are thinking of all the big campers that are around now adays, however we tent camp and love a little shade. The employees were not too friendly. They were very short with their answers, and never smile, except for the girl cleaning and the maintaince man.The wedding couple stayed at the two cabins on the river and they were lovely cabins. Clean when they arrived. The hot water did not work in one of them and they had to keep calling and get it reset, it would not stay lit. A bit over priced I feel once again. The wedding couple stayed 5 nights in the cabins, had a dinner there for 250 guests, brought in at least 30 campsite rentals, and when we ask if they would shuttle the bride and grooms canoe up the road about 3 miles, as we were renting canoes and kayaks from the resort, and the wedding couple had their own. They said yes but it was $20, to take theirs along.
