the museum is set up in order from Anne Murrays' birth to present day. Life events, awards, letters from other stars, If you sang along with most of her hits, as I did growing up, you will enjoy this tribute to her. the staff were all so friendly and helpful. Brought back good memories of concerts and TV shows where we saw Anne perform. Nice small gift shop.
I visited the Anne Murray Center with my mom and husband on Sept 19, 2012. We all enjoyed our visit. Everyone was humming and singing along as we moved through the well layed out exibits. The tour ends in a very good gift shop.
My wife is a fan because of Anne Murray because of her mother...however I had never even heard of Anne Murray since I am into the 80's hair/guitar type of music. Regardless, while I got very little out of this place...my wife really enjoyed it and it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be for me. :) I don't have much else to add other than what has been said already by the Anne Murray experts, but if you are someone like me who has 0 interest in it...know that it is a good "museum" and you might be pleasantly surprised. :)
I absolutely loved this museum but must say that I'm a huge fan. If you don't love Anne you may not find it as wonderful as I did.
My husband and I were on our way through Nova Scotia and saw a highway sign for the Anne Murray Centre in Springhill. We decided to stop and see it. We were really glad we did. The admission price was very low ($6.00 for adults). The museum did an amazing job of putting together Anne's career in music. The level of detail they went to in their displays made this trip worthwhile. I had no idea that Anne had so many celebrity connections starting in her early days all the way through to the present day. I was very proud that a Canadian could do so well, at a time when only few Canadians made it big. One of my favorite stations was the video theatre at the end of the tour. You could watch highlights from Anne's lengthy music career captured in video The gift shop had a variety of memorabilia, and I bought the Duets album to enjoy on our ride back home. We were at the Centre for about 2 hours, but we could have spent longer. We did not have time to record a CD with Anne, but that is an option if you're interested.
Come here to see a very nice tribute to Canada's national treasure, Anne Murray. This was an unexpected find and worth a quick trip off the interstate. The museum gives her biography, illustrating her formative years and showcasing her many awards and honors, all the while playing selected songs from her stellar career. As an Anne Murray fan, this was great to see. They have friendly staff, a small gift shop, and a karaoke-style recording studio that allows you to record a song "with Anne Murray". However, it was not operational when we visited, so call ahead if this experience is important to you.
Popped in here because I had a bit of time to kill.... what a wonderful surprise. A bite-sized museum you can get through in less an hour, maybe a little more if you take it slow. Lovely detailed presentation of memorabilia etc (who kept all this stuff?) and a great tribute. Beware! I couldnt get Anne songs out of my head for hours after. It's a small space, I can picture it being less pleasant when the tour buses pull in... Do yuorself a favor and go for a doneir next door at the pizza/ doneir shop - the best.
My wife and I visited this. It is a 2 hr drive from Halifax ($8 CDN in tolls not counting if you have to go over MacDonald Bridge if so add $2 round trip). This is a very well done exhibit showcasing her entire career, as well as her growing up years. It is loaded with various awards, trophys and personal items. Apparently she now resides outside of Toronto. They also have a nice Gift Shop. Admission was $6. CDN for Seniors. If you have the time there is also a miners museum in town but we had already had a full day.
This is an amazing representation of Anne's life! They have everything from childhood possessions to photos throughout her life to trophies, medals, awards, gold albums to recent things like her white outfit she wore for the Vancounver Olympics. Good gift shop attached. Lots of hooked rugs for sale as well.
I have wanted to stop at the Anne Murray Centre for many years! The time never seemed right to pull of the road but yesterday the visit happened and I was not disappointed. The place looks small on the outside but inside the layout allows for numerous displays in a very limited space. The exhibits were very well designed and laid out. We took over an hour to go through the centre; it was well worth the time if you are an Anne Murray fan!
