Very nice hike from the Squaw valley resort to the High camp.I would recommend to take the hike up with proper boots and walking sticks. Once you are up you can take a free ride done with the cable car. You can also take the cable car up ($39 for adults) and then hike down on a rocky area but this is harder on the knees.It will take about 2 - 3 hours to get to the top where you can rest, eat or swim at the high camp pool. The hike is strenuous but not technically difficult, just follow the blue markers or the rest of the hikers. Plenty of places to rest and enjoy a spectacular view on the valley and, higher up, lake Tahoe.Once you are at Shirley lake, you still have to do the last part. Some take the steep vertical climp but there is also a normal path to the top.
