Wines are ok. Felt a little stuffy and uptight. Not inviting. No where to sit - not even stools. We tasted our samples quickly and left.
What a GREAT STOP!!!In St. Michaels for my dates Birthday, I purchased a "Living Social" Wine Tasting for St. Michaels Winery. What a fun time it was! I'm glad I stopped. The Purchase included a wine tasting of 10 wines, 2 free wine glasses, and a Complementary bottle of one of their Award Winning Wines. The Staff was Pleasant, Knowledgeable, Warm and inviting. What a nice time. We felt like we were at home, not Rushed, or Stuffy. Worth the price even with out the Deal!. My Picks were: Whites (Dry) Sparkling Vidal Blanc Oakey Dokey Chardonnay (reserve) Reds (Dry) Island Quality White St.Michaels White (Vidal) Sweet Dessert Peach Gollywobbler -My Use would be for a SangriaENJOY!!!CHEF GARY CURRYPS: VISIT THE EASTERN SHORE BREWERY RIGHT NEXT DOOR!!! MEET BARLEY THE ST.BERNARD PUP/MASCOT!!
Stopped in during a Saturday trip to St Michaels. Parking was a little difficult, but we found street parking 2 blocks away. It was wall to wall crowded when we arrived but we squeezed into a spot at the end of the bar. The flight tasting was fairly priced (about $1 per tasting). The staff was friendly but busy and not always the most organized. We felt like we got our moneys worth during our visit, but it lacked a personal connection or history of the winery. I doubt we would go back again, but the craft beer place next door looked interesting (closed when we left).
This place offers several options for tasting their all-Maryland wines, and also permits single tastings at $1 each of anything you'd like to try. The 7-wine flight of whites was more than I wanted, so I chose three different wines, one at a time, which the server was happy to accommodate. She mentioned where the grapes for each wine were produced, providing a sense of place and showing a little pride in the product.
You know when you meet one of the staff walking down the street and she is so friendly and helpful that this will be a great experience ! It was! Great staff. You can sample by choice or flight. We took a flight...a sweet one. Nice selection. My case will be nice through the fall months! Thanks ladies!
I liked our stop in at Lyons Distillery more than this place. This place was nice, but after spending some long weekends in Northern VA and stopping in at those wineries, I just wasn't as impressed with this winery. The ambiance just doesn't hold a candle to other wineries in the MD/DC/VA area.
thanks to this place i am now addicted to chocolate zin!!!! we did the 8 tasting deal and man i can not stress enough that people go in and do this..... the girls behind the barrels were great at answering any questions and making us feel like family
Fun place to go for tastings. Very popular and crowded on the weekends. Servers are knowledgeable. Local shops surround.
Found the gift shops more inviting than the wine tasting. Wine was so so...did not buy any and we are wine lovers. No place to sit and relax to sip the wine...which I think is not so comfortable. Lacking in ambiance ....servers..not real friendly. Not a warm feeling, did not think it was worth the time.
Did a 'Living Social' wine tasting, which included ten wines for two, two glasses and a bottle of wine, for $21. Bought the best cheeses ever from their fridge and enjoyed the evening! So far one of the best wineries that I have visited in the MD/VA so far. Very good Chardonnays, Reds and pretty good sweet wines. I know that the enjoyment of drinking a good wine is dependent on the taster, but the wine here, to me was very good. No real place to sit and really enjoy a good bottle, but we had to drive 90 miles back home, so didn't really want to consume on the premises. In the spring and summer, I can imagine that it will get pretty crowded here on weekends. When I visit again, will definitely stay at a B&B nearby and enjoy the town along with the wines. Will visit again!
