I have been in SF for years and never knew about this oasis until a friend told me. The trails are great for running, and the programs the staff offers out of this neat building are crazy cool, especially considering EVERYTHING IS FREE! Definitely need to stop here if you're visiting SF, and if you had kids it looks like a great way to let them learn something new to do outside.
We stumbled across this on the day they were holding their Halloween Hike. What a fun (FREE!!!) time. Loved seeing all the costumes and the activities were a nice diversion!
Not only is The Outdoor Campus in Sioux Falls easy to find and get to, it also gives visitors a quick way to emerge themselves in the true beauty and excitement South Dakota's wildlife has to offer. I am an amateur birder and avid nature watcher; my surprise came when walking the well maintained trails of The Outdoor Campus and spotting birds and other wild animals I have trouble finding in nature preserves and other public lands. The best part is when you enter the interactive wildlife museum area and speak with the staff about what you saw. They will enthusiastically educate you and your family on the animals and plants that make up our state. Their staff can also teach visitors basic skills like paddling, fishing, and archery for zero cost. The Outdoor Campus is a gem in South Dakota. I highly recommend it.
The Outdoor Campus is free and has plenty to see and do. Classes are offered year round to teach kids and adults about all kinds of cool outdoor skills and wildlife information, there's a good deal of trails (2+ miles), a museum, classroom animals and great staff. Make sure this is a stop on your trip to Sioux Falls.
A little for everyone. Explorers can find something. Fitness nuts can do their thing. Kids can see animals. Adults can relax.
A great place to visit for an hour or two. There is a nice educational play area inside and great walking trails outside. A must see when visiting Sioux Falls, SD.
Paid for by the fish and game licenses, this place has exhibits that are fun, hands on and worth going back for. Not only do they have classes featuring endangered species but the have a ethers of outdoor programs going on to from fishing to archery to snowshoeing!!!! You need to check this place out- best of all, it's free!!!
Awesome place to visit if you're in the sioux falls area or just passing through. This place offers classes to not only kids but family and adults as well and the best part is that it's all free. It's a beautiful building inside that has a great museum and the back area has a beautiful garden and bird area. We love to watch the ducks and their babies play in the pond. I can't believe how many different trails they have too with it still being within city grounds. I will definately be stopping here more often to get signed up for classes and enjoy the outdoors.
The Outdoor Campus is a great place to take the kids when you need a change of scenery. The indoor activities are fun and the kids love just taking their time exploring outside. We've done classes through the Outdoor Campus as well and always enjoy ourselves. The staff is amazing and helpful. You really can't go wrong with a visit.
This is a great place to spend 1-2 hours with kids. Walking trails, play area, and aquarium are educational and fun. Sertoma Park shares a parking lot and is a great picnic place with playgrounds.
