So to be honest, we were a bit disappointed in Soria city, apart from a few churches, not much to see and not particularly beautiful. But we were glad we ventured down to the riverside and found this place, a real little gem. They've obviously spent time and money sprucing up the riverside area, with what looked like a lovely walk up the river both ways. This little monestary (or cloister really) is riverside, and is very curious, with it's 4 part cloister arches of different periods. It doesn't take long to see, but is well worth it, and at the weekend it's free as well (a small charge during the week). Also not much parking on a busy day.
Beautiful historic site along the Duero river. Great walking trails have been added along both banks of the river.
This place was fantastic. Food, wine, service was best we ever had. Would go again in heartbeat. Paths were greT, like going back in time 300 years!!
Estuvimos a gusto.
If you like Romanesque churches this is a must see.
Apart from the cloister with its amazing arches in 4 different styles, there are the very nicely carved capitals of the church.
This place is easily reachable in Soria. It, too, is situated along the river. There is a parking lot that is very convenient and the entrance is a short stroll away. This is a very interesting place, but could benefit from additional information. The little museum on site has very few exhibits, but they are interesting. Unfortunately, they left me wanting more info about the cultures that were included in the exhibits. I think more information could be provided about the monastery as well. I had more questions when I left than when I entered.Definitely see this if you're in the area, but don't make a special trip just to see it.
