Soft sand; reasonably priced loungers and umbrellas; beer and snacks delivered to you; wifi if you are near the bar; and shallow water for many metres. If you want a beach holiday, this is the place. You will never feel that you are in an unspoilt paradise, though. Half a dozen planes land right over your head most days. Engine noise is not oppressive as they are landing, not taking off. There are signs for toilets and changing rooms which appear not to exist. I wondered about the taped-off areas to protect turtles' eggs: how effective are they? Next beach along, Ag Helis, has a more attractive setting but is further to get to on foot from Svoronata and there's steep steps up and down and to the bar …
It's a lovely beach, lovely sand good amount of sunbeds, but the beach bar music was too loud you could here it pounding through the sand and we were a good way down the beach. Don't know if the baby turtles made it as I'm sure they must have had bad head by the time they came up form their nest
The facts; a small bay, with beds and umbrellas, a beach bar and under the flight path - at one end of the beach is the end of the runway! BUT - even on a saturday, there are only about a dozen flights a day - so it's really not disturbing - the beach bar is cosy and the staff really nice and the wine and bagettes decent for the money. the shelving of the seabed means that you can go out a long way and it's still shallow, so it feels quite safe. A special mention for the woman who looked after the beds and umbrellas - really friendly and when our beds were a mess with sand, she came and gave them a dust down!! the best beach we found in Cephalonia!
good sandy beach for a bit to float at the end of the day with now and then low-flying aircraft that lands
A gorgeous little beach (about 200 yards long) Soft dark golden sand and very clear water. The beach is very safe for swimming as it has a sand bar about 30 yards out. Two Sunbeds an umbrella and a table cost either 5 or 7 Euros the set depending on which side of the beach you choose. (7 Euros next to the Beach Bar) Landing Aircraft come right over the beach on their approach to the airport which makes for a thrilling interlude a few times a day. It's like a Mexican Wave as people sit up to watch!Very quiet and uncrowded and very very relaxing.
This is maybe 5 minutes' walk from Astra Village, quite small but sandy, shallow water, lovely views of sunset. It felt like "our" beach as so quiet - think they probably had a cafe there during high season which was being removed by tractor on our first trip there....
Right by the airport but dont be put off, only 2 or 3 planes a day, and acyually a thrill to be that close to a landing craft, you can get a great selfie, the beach is very clean lots of sunbeds to choose from, and the little bar/restaurant up the hill, would come and collect sun bed money but even brought lunch down to us, very accomodating.
Warm, shallow water, a good beach bar and plenty of sun beds. Two good tavernas nearby. A lovely place to watch the sun set
An excellent clean beach with safe waters for swimming directly under the airport flightpath. This just makes it more interesting when the odd plane lands or takes off.
200 m from Hotel Astra Village. 2 sun beds and umbrellas 6 €, next to the beach is snack bar Tropicana, where you can eat and drink.
