I scheduled a birthday party for my granddaughter at the Petting Zoo. I personally think it was the best decision I have made in a LONG time! The kids absolutely loved it and the adults did too! There was room to roam, see the animals, enjoy the beautiful fall day and just not run into each other! The owners were unbelievably attentive to every need. Because it was a party, they sat up the tables and provided feed for the children to give the animals. Even though everyone enjoyed feeding each animal, I think the "Hit" of the day was the gem mining! Every child got to take home some jewels and they all loved the water, even though it was cold. I highly recommend this for locals who want to show their guests what Sweetwater has to offer. It's very conveniently located from downtown, near the interstate and near several restaurants.
I take my two year old grandson there once in a while. He absolutely adores the place. You can see a lot of goats, a huge turtle, a kangaroo, a couple of peacocks, a camel and more. They have pony rides for kids. It's very small and you can just let the kids run around, very safe environment. Make sure you wash the kids' hands after wards. There is no restroom or food to buy. But it definitely is a nice place to go on a day off. They love the animals and it shows!!!
this petting zoo is really nice. they allow you to pet and feed all the animals on site. the owners are really nice also. had a really good time.
I went there with my two grandsons last Saturday. So cute; the animals are very tame and you are no longer advised that some could possibly bite you. I loved the two kangaroos. So adorable. The camel grabbed our food bucket, swung it up in the air and then dropped it back down after finishing all of the food. That takes skills...Lesson learned, don't let him grab your bucket.
for what this place was it was okay....not hte best ever, but for little kids it would be fun
I've lived and taught school in the area all my life and never knew this was here....how did I miss this? Went with a friend, daughter and their two year old girls and had a good time...They do have several interesting animals such as a camel, zebra, kangaroos, and lots of goats, deer, and the girls had a great time feeding the animals....Not something I'd want to do often, but a great experience for the locale....and for small children.
Awesome family fun. My 2 children have went to the camp and also was there on a field trip. Very reasonably priced and lots of things to do. Highly recommend anyone going there with their kids. Melissa and Mark are awesome and my kids loved them.
Thought we would give this place a try with all of the good reviews. We pulled up to its location and wondered what did we get ourselves into. Its in someones backyard. Young kids working in the office area. Total cost for 2 adults and 2 children was $40 and cups of feed ar $2 each or a sandpail full for $10. $5 for pony ride. Opted not to do a pony ride due to the high cost of admission. I think they need to lower their prices and maybe they would get some repeat customers. We for one would not go back again. I asked if they had rabbits and a kid told me they just run around the yards. Never did see one. The zebra was fun to feed, but thought this was way too expensive. Tourist trap....beware.
One of the bad things about a petting zoo that doesn't let you actually get in the cages with the animals and pet them. Purdy's sells food pellets you can feed the animals and that's about as close as you can get to them. Most of the animals are overweight and are in small pens. Some of the exotic animals like the kangaroo has no space to move around at all. Even though there's a sign that says they passed the animal inspection by the local animal inspectors, I suspect that is not at all the case here. Some of the animals really need larger cages like the goats especially. Wish they would expand and give them all more room and less groceries.
My son attended Summer Camp with a group of friends. He loved it! He came home every day with new stories and info he had learned. Great activities for all ages.
