We saw the Christmas pantomime production of "Cinderella". The show had sold out every performance and we were lucky to get seats. What a treat - the cast was superb and the sets and costuming was wonderful. The ensemble (dressed in Victorian costume) who sang old Christmas songs in front of the curtain during set changes were very talented and added a lot to the ambiance and our enjoyment.
KCPT is a Port Townsend treasure. We have seen theatre productions all over the country, including New York City, and KCPT can hold its own. The most you pay for tickets is $20, and there are discounted matinees and "pay as you wish" performances to keep theatre accessible. In summer, KCPT performs Shakespeare in the Park, and there are numerous musical and other special events throughout the year.
Key City is a fine theatre with all kinds of plays. Key City also does Shakespeare in Chetzumoka Park. Exquisit.
I have enjoyed every production presented by this theater especially the ones directed by Denise Winters. Be sure to get your tickets early because they sell out almost every performance!!
I have gone to the Key City Public Theatre for years, and have always left thoroughly entertained. This weekend I saw a production of Homer's Odyssey. It was contemporary, humorous, and great fun. The theatre also offers cocktails, beer, wine and some light snacks. The theatre is very small, and can feel a bit claustrophobic when the air gets stuffy. Otherwise, no complaints.
Don't miss this one. We laughed until we had tears running down our faces. You get a history of the world in about 90 minutes. Two talented actors and an exceptionally gifted pianist bring the history of the world out of the history books. Am going to go again. It's fast paced and if you blink you miss something. Go before it is over!!
