How would you like 7+ museums in the single building with single affordable ticket? Come to Tampere Vapriikki and you have it. They even throw full course food restaurant / cafeteria and museum shop to the equation. Easily spend a day inside this building. I like it, I like it a lot!
I have been here twice, once with my Finnish language language class and once with friends. I particularly like the nature exhibits (you can see how how large a moose is!) and the very complete exhibit of the 1918 conflict is very emotional, even if you do not speak any Finnish. The Aphrodite special exhibit was very interesting with artifacts dating over 3000 years old.
Due to variety of the exhibits, there is something for everyone. We found the Old Tampere 1918 and Innovation part very interesting and the fashion ones were good as well. Another plus side in this place is that they serve good food and you can get really good deal for lunch from their buffet.
Fave in tampere! Some part of the museun are interactive (especially the part about hockey history of finland!) It's pretty big and takes a while to visit it all.
Great museum in Tampere. The exhibits showed the local history well and was a great way to spend an afternoon.
This museum is very interesting. The place has many different sections that will fit every ages and genders. The first section is about Love during humanity : it will explain you how relationships and marriages occurred during Mesopotamia, Egypt empire, Greece empire, Roman empire, Byzantine empire. The second section will inform you about the different clothes styles in Tampere during the past century. The third section will show you a lot of inventions and innovations that has been made in the city of Tampere. The fourth part will explain you about the war that occurred in Tampere. The fifth section is about animals and vegetation you find in Finland. The last part is about hockey and you will be able to see many trophies, hockey equipment from different years. There is also a room where you can try to practice your hockey skills against the computer (shooting on a screen). Don’t worry about language there because everything is explained in Finnish and in English. If you have extra time in Tampere this is a very good place to visit.
This place is fantastic. It had so many things for a 12 year old to do. You can learn how to operate a log loader in an actual seat from one of the machines in a simulation. You can have a shoot out against a hockey goalie. There is a shoe museum that was amazing, a display of all the wars Finland had been through, and even a section on some most amazing advances in medicine I have ever seen. I loved this museum.
For me Vapriikki was place where I haven't been before. So I wanted to visit there definitely. Expositions were interesting, I enjoyed a lot. Perhaps it's more interesting for the Finns, but I recommed it to everybody.
This is a huge museum. Inside you have history (the local civil war museum, which is my favourite), natural sciences, museum of toys, museum of ice jockey, industry and some more things. Temporary shows are held also all the time. You can easily spend the whole day there, specially in winter, as there is a restaurant/cafe as well.A must do
This isn't a museum, but a collection of small museums of very different kind of themes (ice hockey, fashion, toys, nature etc.). Some of the exhibitions are permanent and some are changing, so if you have plenty of choices to visit the place, be sure to check the dates of exhibitions to choose the best time to visit.
