Trier is a gem.A tour must include the Dom .All sights are within easy walking distance or you can take the Tourist Bus or Train.
I was thoroughly pressed with this cathedral. First the building itself is amazing and beautiful. However, beyond that I loved the blending of architectural styles over the centuries. From Romanesque through baroque and gothic. Truly an architectural history lesson. Yet all the styles have been blended beautifully.
Very impressive cathedral for an Archbishop who used to exercise a great deal of power in the Catholic Church. The church is well kept and there are various altars through out. Once in particular has the grim reaper, something I have never seen in a church. There is also a cloth that Jesus was supposed to have worn or have been covered in but only the vault where it is held is available for visit--you cannot see it. No admission and it is a great place to visit if you visit Trier
This city has so much to see. From atop the hill above the city you can see how the city is nestled next to the Mosel river. The architecture is amazing dating back through time when the city was the western capital of the Roman Empire. The gardens are delightful and the city full of history. Great shopping and the food here is excellent.
Amazing cathedral in Germanys oldest city. Its a sin being in Trier and not visiting it. Absolutely stunning.
Nice little cathedral situated in the centre of Trier worth a visit if you are in the area but there are better cathedrals out there.
I visited at different times of the day. There were areas that weren't open to the public when I visited fairly early in the morning, so visited again later to see them and am glad I did. It was an interesting cathedral and quite imposing.
It is one of the most impressive churches in Germany, St. Peter's Cathedral austere facade hides a sumptuous interior. The church is huge, and beautiful ornamented. It has an important relic, Jesus' robe. The complex also has a cluster, the treasury, and adjacent Gothic church. My favorite part was the blue ceiling next to the entrance (a sort of a chapel). Some of the altars reminds me the ones I have seen in Vienna. Definitively the highest mark in Trier. The church itself is a good reason to visit Trier.
