So many great restaurants to choose from, a foodie's delight. The surrounding mountains are spectacular and there are shops of all kinds, local owners, not tourist-y feeling at all. The locals, less than 3,000, are so welcoming, move over Disneyland, Telluride might be the happiest place on earth!
Still has the feel of an old mining town. I like that the local business are local. The main street has more than just bars and restaurants.
No! Don't Go!Stopped by with my Partner, to peruse some cheese for our Apres Ski. We waited, waited, waited for the girl at the counter to assist us. Instead, we were IGNORED. When we were finally attended to, we were made to feel unwelcome and that it was a bother for the girl. Well! I never! I and my Partner are completely appalled. We will not be recommending this shop to anyone.
A fun and interesting easy to navigate town. Interesting architectural building facades and eclectic shopping experiences. Abundant food choices from food trucks to upscale dining establishments.
Loved the ease of walking from the hotel and enjoying all the unique shops. Beautiful views as you walk around. Great places to eat scattered throughout the town.
I loved Main Street! It was nice quaint shops that were reasonably priced. I bought something at one shop that didn't get put into my bag. I didn't noticed until I was unpacking at home. I called the shop and they mailed it to me! Great customer service!
Perfectly preserved 1800s mining town. Buildings have been repurposed, but history is evident everywhere -- no fast food chains or hotels allowed here. Several unique shops & excellent local restaurants & shops. And a free gondola ride up the mountain transports you to a European alpine ski village atmosphere with all the amenities.
There is no better view in ski country world-wide: box canyon surrounded by 13/14k mountains, red rock, classic well-preserved mining town, non stop lights, interesting locals, ski lifts coming out of town, etc. Certainly Park City, Aspen, Vail cannot compare. Even Euro resorts are invious.
Looks pretty nice in photos and the real-time webcam, but somewhat ordinary in real life. The "box canyon" that features widely in advertising is moderately spectacular in real life, but again not as impressive as the name suggests (e.g., the sides of the "canyon" are not particularly steep). There is always a lot of traffic on the main street, which further detracts from the ambience. The only really spectacular views at Telluride are looking across the Bear Creek valley from the Revelation Bowl and the top of the Plunge Lift
Scenery was AMAZING! Main street was beautiful with great surrounding scenery, waterfalls and nice flower containers in the middle of the streets... very decorative! We were quite disappointed in the lack of shops, restaurants/bars & places for dogs. We were surprised that the gondola was so dog friendly, but the town was not. So we had a dog, but no place to put her if we wanted to go into a restaurant/bar. There were not many places where you could find patios either, which we found surprising given the spectacular scenery. If you take the gondola over the mountain to the ski area side you will find more restaurants/bars that are dog friendly with nice outdoor patios. There were shops along main street; however, we did not go in any of them because of the dog. On the other hand we did not find that any of them really peaked our interest either.
