take the river walk east of town for some great views and an easy walk that is one of the few that is not uphill in Telluride.
We went with local guide down San Miguel river for about 9-10 mile white water rafting trip. It was really pleasant in the afternoon with water being very cold and sunny temps around 88 degrees. Our group had 5 rafts and we all managed to get through with no one going overboard. This trip would be good for children as well. Was not too rough. Will definitely do again!
You can follow the river on one side that is a park trail. There are wildflowers and wildlife everywhere and beautiful mountain views. The river leads to some falls which are worth the hike to see. Occasionally there are bear sitings
Went for a run along the river trail. Very, very pretty and away from the roads. There are other trails near town, but this one is easy and quiet.
The river is never far away and always welcome. Not too big, not too small, the San Miguel is great every day. The trail along the river is a daily must-do while staying in Telluride.
A beautiful, clear river that runs through the backside of town, There is a trail to stroll next to it, or you can cross it as a gateway to Aspen lined trails and up to a waterfall.
Not much on hiking this is a pretty easy walk with great views and can take you to the falls! Wathcin the water and hearing the sounds of nature as their meant to be enjoyed.
The San Miguel follows the highway for miles on the way to Telluride. It is a popular fly fishing stream, and has spectacular colors in the fall.
A great spot to stroll along the river with dogs &/or kids to enjoy the incredible views! Easy access to restaurants, shops & pubs on the side streets.
We caught a few fish on this river for the short amount of time we fished it. There are some really pretty places you can park on the side of the road and walk to.
