An interesting place to see if you know who is buried there. Griboyedov's grave is easy to find underneath the church itself. Be aware that the upper gate is closed so you have to traipse down even further to the lower gate to get in. And then all the way up again to reach the funicular station.
Be sure to take the Funiclur up to the Pantheon. On the grounds there is the church of St. David. Some famous gravesides include those of Niko Pirosmani, the painter who sold everything he had to buy a million roses for an actress he loved. Also, graves of Alexander Griboyedov and first Georgian President Gamsaxurdia. There are great views of the city perfect for picture taking.
A wonderful, huge park. It has rides for kids and lush green walkways to relax. Then a beautiful restaurant to end your visit.
The Mtatsminda Pantheon of Writers and Public Figures.there is a beautiful view all Tbilisi. There are many to see
sehr interessant. aber man sollte georgisch lesen können, weil die grabtafel in georgisch ausgeführt sind
Nice to visit in your spare time. Historically correct and cable car enjoyable. Once up there, stroll around and take pics of an aerial view.
What attracted me here was the old world historic setting, and the price is right for a solo traveler on a budget. I'm trying to do more things on my own and it served as a great inspiration for some things I'm working on as a little side project (I'm a fiction/ copy writer and graphic designer by trade). I'll definitely be back with some of my friends. I had a very memorable time here.
amazing and unique view from the restaurant but not impressed by the food. Quite easy to reach via the funicular.
It is definatly worth to start visit in Tbilisi from tour to Mtatsminda. You wil have a great view of the city, you can also enjoy good food overlooking Tbilisi. In half of the way by funiculor it is wirth to stop and see the nice church, local pantheon and grave of Russian writer Grobojedov, who married to Georgian lady Chavchavadze. Take some time to read about their history in advance and make your trip more cultural. It is interesting!!!!Walking down to Rustaveli avenue takes 15 minutes.
