You do get an excellent view from this setup and it is a safe and well engineered structure - worth trying if it is your first time here
I highly recommend to go with the funicular and stop both at the beautiful church in the middle and then go all the way up to experience the great views and big entertainment part up there. Unfortunately most of it was closed when we were there but I can imagine that it's a great joy in the spring and summer time when open and probably pretty crowded.
We came to this restaurant occasionally walking up the hill from the upper point of the ropeway near Narikala fortress. An hour of constant going upwards was crowned with the fine authentic food and perfect bakery along with panoramic view of Tbilisi. Definitely worth visiting. Despite of relatively distant placement from the main infrastructure and caroussel park next to the restaurant prices are very adequate.
Only the building is historical, the funicular itself is new. On the top there is a big park and nice view of the city.
The restaurant on top has great food, is always so crowded. We had to wait like 30 minutes until our dishes were finished, but it was worth it! I hope I will get the chance to go there again!
A nineteen century creation that must be visited. Nice interesting architecture. The train that brings you up the hill stops midway and you can have the chance to visit the adjacent parks. A MUST, since the view from up-hill is just beautiful.
cafes, fresh air, attractions, stunningly beautiful views... you can take tram going up on funicular, or bus from freedom square
Modern, cheap and efficient. Worth riding in just for the views. We also went up at night to see Tbilisi lit up. Beautiful!
Easy to reach, efficient and not expensive.Good restaurant and cafeteria at the top, with very nice views to the city.
This is what everyone in Tbilisi tells you to go see. Meh. If you're very interested in seeing th pantheon, or if it's summer and you'd like to see the Mtatsminda Amusement Park, definitely make the trek. But! Be prepared to wait a long time, especially on the way back down. I waited 15 minutes to go up, and about 20 to go down.
