Cyprus Lake and Bruce Peninsula, is by far the most beautiful area I have ever camped in! It does get quite crowded, but it's worth it for the spectacular views of the never ending shoreline and soaring cliffs! Cyprus Lake is a stunning area with lots of activities available, you can go canoeing/kayaking on the lake, hike tot he bay and see the grotto. A nice time to go is in winter, but they don't seem to be renting out the yurts in the winter anymore, so if you not a hard core camper, a day trip is still worth it! :)
Cyprus lake camping site is an amazing place to stay for couples, families and friends who need a get away and explore the nature of Canada and enjoy the feeling of being a part of it. I have been in this place 2 times. First time was in May and it was so quiet and most sites were empty. 2nd time was in mid June and the site was busier and a bit noisier and wash rooms may not as clean as 1st time but compare to provincial parks wash rooms are way cleaner . We stayed at Burch camping both times since it is my favourite one between 3 sites. If you like quiet site choose Tamarack since it is free-radio zone. The lake is so clean and relaxing itself but with 45 min of trail you have plenty of choices to explore as you get closer to Bruce peninsula. I can just say amazing, amazing and super unique nature. You must visit grotto for sure. don't be lazy get the map from front desk and go for hiking.
I try to get here every summer because it's so beautiful. I've camped here before but since I live about an hour-ish away, I just go for day trips now. Unfortunately, it gets busier and busier each time and we almost didn't make it in last year because the parking was full before noon. People love to cliff dive there, even though people die every summer doing it.
This campground is beautiful but you are hassled too much staying here. You are permitted 6 adults per site and we told that talking and laughing is a noise complaint - wow! and we are very respectful. All we had was a fire and we got in trouble for talking around the fire. There were a few guards on during the night and some were better than others.we were told that whispering is too loud! I had to laugh out loud at that one! I think there are several other campgrounds that would be suitable that are not this ridiculously strict.
Oh my just the BEST. The Georgian Bay and Lake Huron are so strikingly beautiful. Enjoy it for the afternoon. Just nice to see the ohs and has when people come to the area.
Cypress Lake is an easy and short hike from the parking area, and worth every step. We visited on a cool, cloudy October day. The fall color was beautiful, reflected in the water of the lake. The trail around the lake simply begs to be walked, with its ranks of twisted cypress trees and rugged limestone outcroppings. Lots of critters to look for, too.
If you are in the Tobermory area this is a must see. We were recommended by a fellow traveler about this place and we didn't regret going there. The scenic view was mesmerizing and breathtaking. Water was bit chilly. When you get there you have to go down to Grotto, only thing you have to brave is climbing down the hill and coming back up but it's totally worth it.
I went here with my friends for Victoria Day weekend. I did not go camping but went here for hiking. We completed Georgian Lake and Cyprus Lake trail. Getting to the attractions from the parking lot was pretty easy and it was beautiful. The Grotto and surrounding was stunning. The trails are marked as easy and it was fairly easy but in the Cyprus Lake area (and I'm not sure if this is still the beginning of the season) it wasn't marked. Sometimes we ended up off the trail only to find out there was a path. Could only be my group though because we saw people walking with no difficulty at times. That would be the only thing. Also we had wanted to do the Marr Lake trail but ended up doing the Cyprus trail. (We are hiking newbies) There are also a few washrooms, so that was a bonus.
It was my first camping experience in the Yurt. I liked so much, I'm not sure if I ever want camp in the tent again :)Yurts on Cyprus Lake - it's very quiet, peaceful place, far from actual campground. There's no cars traffic, you have to park car in Yurt parking and walk about 100-200 meters to Yurt. Yurt has a lot of sleeping space- 1 king bed and 1 double-level bed (double bottom, twins top), it has fire place which heat up yurt in 20-30 minutes. Propane grill outside, propane provided by Park. Yurts located very close to lake. Water is very calm compare to Georgian Bay. Georgian Bay is only few kilometers away and can be reached by Park's trails. Trails take you to the Grotto with beautiful Georgian Bay views.
Great hiking, great bouldering and awesome camping. The grotto does get very busy on the weekend so I recommend going on a week day if possible. Water is also very very cold. If hiking be sure to wear hiking shoes especially if you are headed towards the bruce trail.
