There's not a lot in Tolaga Bay but it's definitely worth a stop for the wharf. Whether you're into the history of the area, or the views, or simply the pleasant stroll to the end and back it's a pleasant way to occupy half an hour. There's a nice picture board at the entrance explaining some of the interesting history including the efforts to restore the wharf - although clearly work remains to be done, with significant deterioration still to be dealt with.
Beautifully kept since refurbishment, beautifully done with historical information at the entrance. Great place to walk, swim and fish, well worth a visit!
This is worth finding, great fishing spot, pleasant walk, nice beach and great little town nearby. The wharf area is being refurbished and hopefully it will all soon be restored. Meanwhile, it is very pleasant to walk out along this very long wharf.
The wharf was a lovely walk and we saw lots of birds on the way. The beach is also very nice, with picnic tables- I recommend getting some fish and chips in Tologa Bay and eating them out here! Very peaceful :)
Choice part of nz History, loved the walk and photo opportunity. Great to place to get the adrenaline pumping jumping of a 10m warf into the refreshing blue waters of Tolaga bay.
Definitely worth stopping and going along the wharf for a walk. Tried fishing a couple of times but no luck. Good swimming beach too.
This place is my favourite place in the world!!!! Great camping spots, great for swimming, fishing, jumping off the wharf, best pies from Cottels cafe, a place to escape from crazyness and to be at piece with your self and earth.
Worth the detour from the main road. We stopped to visit the historic wharf and saw many people swimming and surfing in the water. The wharf has been well restored with information boards telling its history.
We popped down to the Wharf after completing the Cooks Cove walk. The weather had just started to brighten up so it made the walk along the 600mt long pier ( wharf). Interesting history and stunning views all around.
The walk to the end of the wharf is amazing with the waves crashing against the cliffs which eroded a bunch of interesting caves..wonder how many years it will take for the caves to change hmm..saw the news that a tourist drowned after jumping of the wharf for fun, only do so if a strong and confident swimmer. encoraged by the fact that ladders are installed.
