Chapter 11 has cause all Caesar casinos not to pay out. I have been able to win enough to play on at them but not since they declared Chapter 11. I usually go to Tunica at least twice a year and have always been able to play on gambling money the whole time but not this time and the other Caesar casinos have tighten up on the payouts. I think if they would lower the great big payout and give more $2,000.00 - $3,000.00 they would be better off.
The customer service in the casino has changed. We went without any coupons because we did not recv. Any and when we went to the service counter we were told management changed their policy so they would not look up to see if we had any comps. Management contacted me after I complained and they said they changed their policy to be fair to all their patrons so they would not have long lines of people waiting. In the time it took the young lady to tell me all of this at the window she could have given me the 3 digit code and I could have been on my way. Not a good place to go anymore in my opinion .
Just returned from a weekend getaway to Tunica. We stay at Goldstrike because the rooms are nicer and get better weekend rates. But for gambling we always go to Horseshoe. They have more tables with a variety of games. The dealers we encountered on this trip were very friendly which makes it better. We were able to obtain comps for the Noodle Bar and Buffet restaurants from playing table games. The slots were actually not as bad as in the past. On 2 of the 3 days, I was able to come out ahead. But them on a Saturday, nothing was hitting at all. That is to be expected and the nature of gambling. The only issue is the smoke. It got really bad on Saturday and there is no escaping it. Goldstrike does have a non smoking floor which is nice, but the gaming is very limited.
Before I developed late onset asthma, I could not understand people's intolerance of smoke. And what is amazing to me is that people are so unaware or uneducated about how harmful second hand smoke is, and how sick it can make some people. For this reason I am giving this casino a poor rating. It stinks, the rooms in the hotel stink, and you cannot get away from the smoke. There is no designated section for non-smokers in this casino. So, you'll be staying in your room if you have asthma like I do. Let me say this - I don't want to be mean to anybody, and what I am about to say might save your life. If you smoke, you need to stop right now. My son died before his 28th birthday. He had terrible respiratory problems, and he was a heavy smoker. His autopsy revealed a 75 percent blockage in an artery, and he had not even made it to his 30th birthday. He had a little over 2 years to go. He might very well have had a heart attack with that kind of blockage before he reached 30. I say this to all young people whom I see smoking. Think about it. My son had not even reached his 30th birthday and had a major blockage which would have most likely meant a heart attack before he reached 30 had he lived. This might not be an appropriate message for Trip Advisor, but I just had to write it. They can decide if it stays or goes. I am just saying that this casino provides a very unhealthy environment by not providing a non-smoking area for people to play.
The horseshoe is an amazing place to spend your time. They have the most up to date slots and fast service. You never do without anything and they have the friendliest staff I have ever seen. Make this part of any trip you make to Tunica!
I went to play some cash poker b/c the WSOPC was in town. They normally have good poker most of the time. When WSOPC is in town, the action is great.I was there for one week. I played one SNG to get a small buy-in for a tourny and was successful (I played Seniors but didn't cash). My cash game play was profitable. I paid my expenses and made a hansome profit for the week.
I did most of my gambling here and they have a good variety of slots. I used the beverage service quite often and service was fast.Slots were pretty loose and casino was easy to navigate. I will return.
I have always like the Horseshoe. The upgrades they have done to the structure and casino floor really are great! The food is excellent and the gaming is fun and exciting.
Stopped by a couple of weeks ago for WSOP. It's in the middle of nowhere and the only other casino that is within walking distance is Gold Strike. Though Tunica is supposed to be the third largest casino *town* outside of Vegas and AC, the set-up is not at all similar--there's no strip, no boardwalk. You definitely need a car to go from one casino to another which is kind of annoying. I didn't make it to Gold Strike but just comparing the two properties from outside appearances despite what mama always said, I am guessing it's much nicer.I found the crowd a but rough-looking but maybe it's because it was so late at night by the time I made it there and at that time, it seems the men get pretty friendly. You also get a lot of players who don't know how to play, which can get annoying when you have a good hand or lots riding on that one play. What I found most bothersome was the way some dealers actually fling the cards rather than place them in front of you! RUDE! It didn't happen to me but I saw it at one of the tables. The place looks pretty tired and is a bit small, but if you're just there to play, it's fine. There are a couple of restaurants within and a Starbucks upon entering.
Nice people played penny slots we even had high rollers with us too. Slots where varied. I like Wheel of Fortune but it was a quarter slot, so didn't play it
