the renovation of Old Main created another outstanding stop on a tour of the UA campus. Essentially, they've created a mini museum in the large hallway areas outside the president's offices. Visitors will see examples of world-class photography, Native American art, minerals and UA artifacts. This is the first building on campus and has a very interesting history.
This was my first visit to Tuscon and the University. I spent the day on campus with my daughter touring the campus, housing and departments of interest to my child. Although large, it felt safe, , even at night, and we met enough involved students that it changed the "party perception" we initially had.
Liked ease of commute between buildings, liked the 4th street area just outside campus. Dislike so many street people begging.
This is a stellar school, both academically and how it contributes to the community, not to mention an A1 sports department. I know this because my niece is in her senior year there and has been a great student and cheerleader. She is having a college experience beyond what one could ever imagine. I am so proud of her and wish every young person could have that opportunity.
A nice way to see the college and athletic facilities and get a feel for the campus. Tried to get in to see the football stadium....but all secured. Might be back to see a bowl game here one day. Go Irish!!!
While your in town enjoying your tour of the University which is fabulous you will also enjoy all the little very unique shops and restaurants around the University. It is a really neat experience. Also while you are in the area check out 'Tin Town' on the Internet. Lots of history there too with a tour. Call first and book your tour. It is by appointment only !! But since you are so close while at the University you might as well experience it too.
From February to the end of May, the most exciting spectator sport in Tucson is, hands down, the University of Arizona Women’s Softball team. Their games are played in the Rita Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium and fans know that the school will field nationally competitive teams. The Wildcats have won numerous Conference, Regional, and National Championships. For those who have not experienced a college softball game, you are in for a treat. Unlike baseball, every softball game is a fast moving sport complete with home runs, incredible double plays, skilled fielding, keen strategy, and stolen bases. The skill of the underhand fast pitch makes the pitchers a remarkable show; rivaling anyone in the professional baseball ranks. I can't think of anything better than a spring day, a hot dog, drink and an afternoon watching these skilled athletes.
We went the the softball stadium at the U of A for LMU softball tournament. Really beautiful field and campus. Sat in the sun and enjoyed all of the games
Our daughter was accepted to UofA so we visited the school. It is beautiful, the grounds are very well kept up and the students seem very happy and content with their choice to go to school at U of A.
The campus is beautiful! The walking was a bit much. I wish I could have seen the residence halls. The student union was very vibrant - so was the food court. Too much traffic for me!
