We have been visiting this winery for 15+ years and have been very pleased with the quality of wines we selected. The tasting room staff members are knowledgeable about the wines and attentive to us. During our most recent visit, we were especially pleased with the 2012 Semillon white wine and left with several bottles of that wine. We also have several vintages of their Syrah in storage and have opened them and found that they have aged exceedingly well. Definitely will continue to make this a stop during future visits to the Walla Walla winery area.
This winery does not offer very many varieties of wines to try, but has a knowledgeable staff and they are friendly enough. Good reds, as most of Walla Walla has. Expect to pay $25 or so per bottle
My brother prefers their cab over all other winery's in the valley. I too have enjoyed their wines although I prefer whites.
We are real wine enthusiasts and traveled to the Walla Walla area from the midwest specifically to explore the wines. I had read some reviews that said that the views were great at Amavi Winery so we decide to stop there. The view from the tasting room is nice. It sets up high above the vineyards and you have a panoramic view across them to the mountains in the background. The tasting room is modern, clean and spacious. Linda helped us with the wine tasting. She was knowledgable about the wine and fun to talk to. We enjoy big bold reds and Amavi has them. Their prices were also not as high as many of the other wineries- Amavi wines for the most part were in the $25 - 35 range. Their syrah and ceres were particularly nice. We liked the wines so much that we joined their wine club-- something we've never done before. You get a nice discount as a wine club member and there is no long term obligation.
We tasted the 2009 Cab and was impressed enough to buy a couple of bottles. Stored them in our 144 wine fridge and decided to open a bottle for our guest. OMG ! The taste was strong and bitter. Opened the other bottle and in disbelief, it was BAD also. Needless to say, both bottles went down the drain. To pay over $30 for a bad wine out of the bottle is sickening. But TWO ! We won't be buying anymore Amavi wine. Too many other good wineries in Washington.
Went to Amavi to attend a wedding. The place is absolutely breath taking. The views, the sunset the set up. Could not have been a nicer place to have this outdoor event. The wine selections were wonderful. I drank white and my husband had the reds. The catering was done from someone outside, but the venue was so beautiful that everything looked amazing. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. I would most certainly be back for a tour. If you are looking for a destination wedding consider this place!
this is right up there with the best offerings of great reds produced in the Walla Walla region. The wines are truly superb!
We stopped by here after they were closed but the very nice lady said "come on in!". So we did & she poured us all the wine we wanted. Didn't rush us or make us feel like she wanted to get out of there. Very warm & welcoming! Thank you! The reds were very nice. The setting is spectacular. Great place to relax out on their deck & enjoy the view & the wines.
The wines are great and drinking a glass out on the deck with the spectacular view is one of the best ways to spend an afternoon. I took away a star because they are more concerned with collecting your tasting fee than other tasting rooms in the area. You have to prepay and get a token which was slightly off-putting.
Very homey place. A mother and son are both working there. We got there later in the day and we wanted to have a glass of wine on the deck. It was close to closing. They said here is a bottle, it is almost the same price as two glasses. Have as much as you want and take the rest with you and stay for an extra half hour. Now, that is my kind of customer service. I know people want to get home on Friday night, but that was awesome. Plus, I love the wine.
