This was a silver mine tour that started with a trolley ride from the town of Wallace. It lasted about an hour. The trolley guide was informative and the town of Wallace is worth walking around. The guide had been a miner, and was able to answer questions easily. They use actual equipment, which was fascinating.

We had some free time one afternoon while staying at the CdA Resort so decided to check out the silver mine in Wallace. It started in downtown Wallace and we rode in an open air trolley type vehicle to the mine. Our guide was a retired miner so he knew all about the mine and about silver mining, which made the tour even more interesting. The tour goes into an old mine (I'd recommend wearing hiking shoes or sneakers rather than sandals because it's muddy in places), and we saw some of the equipment used (the guide operated some of it to show how it worked), and we learned a lot. I think it was well worth the cost, which wasn't all that much.
There aren't too many silver mines where tourists can go underground and imagine the life of a miner from days past. Our guide Wally was very knowledgeable and actually operated some of the pieces of equipment that are 50-70 years old. It's a vivid reminder of how hard the miners' lives were.
The tour guide was friendly and helpful. You get a bit of history and visiting the sites on the way to and from the mine, which is fun and unique. Once in the mine, not only do you wander through it, but they provide demonstrations and examples of how the equipment works. It was a great balance of learning about mining, having fun and exploring!
Learn about the history of silver mining by seeing first hand how it was done. Everyone wears a miner's hat with a light and sees actual mining equipment put to use. Tour guides are former miners or retired company workers and are very knowledgeable.Enjoy a ride on a trolley from downtown to the mine and back where you can enjoy a narrated tour of Wallace along the way.Fun tour and learning experience!
