Very well presented, for a small town Museum is very well done. Our community has its annual summer picnic on the grounds every year. Wash room facilities are top notch.I've been told that Actors Haden Christiensen and Rachel Bilson who live in Uxbridge...the next town over has vistied but I can't confirm this.
Marrkham Museum and Historic Village is the place to visit; especially for families with young kids. The grounds are beautiful ... there are apple orchards (with the old fashioned apples) and vegetable gardens, old churches, old trains and barns to peek into. A drive through the Historic Village with beautifully restored century homes (some going back to the 19th century) will leave you pining for the old days . Markham is a new, thriving city but it has retained its rural charm and the people are friendly and welcoming. Make a special visit for applefest.
I've leaved down the road from the museum for years and only recently visited. I was pleasantly surprised. Admission was inexpensive and they gave us a personal guide to walk us around. Some of the building where opened for us and it was neat to see. This place has the potential to be like Black Creek Pioneer Village. I'm sure with city backing , this could be a great tourist attractions. We were disappointed that we couldn't get into more buildings. The guides are friendly. Take an afternoon and visit. It's worth the trip.
Was there for a wedding the room is small but very nice, the atmosphere was very nice, the room where the wedding reception was keep was very big and lots of space, it was very nice and different.
Lots of special events, great place to walk, easy access, lots of parking, friendly staff, great for school kids.
Our friends' wedding was outside and the weather held off for a perfect afternoon. The atmosphere was light, friendly and beautiful. There were several people along the way from the parking lot guiding us where to go. After the wedding, snacks and beverages were set up outside of the reception hall. It started to rain lightly unfortunately but the staff was quick to move everything inside. The facilities were clean and standard. The "dance" area was nicely surrounded by fencing. The DJ was awesome! I'm not sure if I can find a place on here to rate him, but 5/5!
Markham Museum connects the history of Markham to today’s new ‘settlers’ by examining our environment and the tools we use to adapt to our changing world. The 25-acre Museum site offers: exhibits, school programs, public programs and events, private event venues and research facilities. There is an old CNR Business Car used by Prime Ministers, plus a Station and CPR Caboose
We took our adult children and grandchildren here for a family outing. Tons of interesting displays and some very interesting Markham history. We also visited the Historic village and it was wonderful for the grandchildren to see how things were a hundred years ago and more. Very worthwhile.
This museum is well worth seeing , in spring , summer , and fall. Applefest in late September is a must!
I think that this is a special place that needs to be preserved especially given all of the development that continues to take place around it. They have many special events and the summer camp is a popular place for your children. The village is well taken care of and great staff are very helpful and full of information. Great family place. I've spent many hours with my family enjoying the museum and village.
