Brookside Mansion on the University of Saint Francis campus is a historic home built at the turn of the 20th century as the summer home of industrialist John Henry Bass. The first weekend of December each year it is open to the public for tours. Local florists and designers gloriously decorate all of the areas of the mansion...from the pastels of the parlor to the 12-foot tree in the ballroom's rotunda. Cost in 2014 was only $6 per person. Every year there is a day for senior citizens to visit with a reduced admission price.
This mansion is part of the USF campus and the Sisters maintain it throughout the year. Around the first of December they offer tours of all three floors. It is decorated with Christmas ornaments, nativity scenes, trees, etc. The architecture alone is worth seeing, if you're not interested in Christmas decs. The way it was built and restored back to its original detail from its era is amazing. Must see!
