We popped over to San Giorgio to climb the bell tower. Turns out it's a lift - thank goodness! The view is amazing. You get to see all the islands, the lagoon and the mountains and the entire geography of the area. And the advantage of this over San Marco is that you get to see San Marco! No queues, hardly any people - but it was February...
No steps (elevator), no line, just a few Euors and a great views. Easy to get to on the water bus and then easy to get to St. Marks.
Well worth the choppy voyage on the vaporetto. Set apart from the busy Piazza San Marco is this peaceful and beautiful basilica.. A visit up the bell tower grants spectacular views of the laguna.
Definitely worth the short trip across from St Marks Square for the wonderful view from the tower - a beautiful vantage point of Venice and there won't be huge queues!
we went before sun set it was absolutely amazing view u could see all Venice and san't marks square the view is astonishing we when to the tower in the San Giorgio good news is got left,, if u get chance visit it will not take long with water taxi
Only a few minutes on the Canal Bus from St Marks Square. Great views of the city and lagoon, no queues or waiting time and only 5 euros to go up the tower.
The view from the Island here is probably the best in all of Venice. AND there are pretty much no crowds relative to St Marks and the like
Just a few minutes across from St Marks and definately worth a visit. The 360 views from the top of the campanaile are fantastic, it is worth the 6 euro fee, choose a good weather day.
