As a citizen living on the far side of the lower mainland, I make it a point to steal a day off or two each year to plant my feet in the sand here and enjoy the view. With a picnic lunch and a friend, or a visit to the concession for very decent fish and chips and other options, it is a fine view whether your beach chair points north, south, east or west. Beautiful sunsets too. Ahh.
Since its a beach you tend to think of it as a warm weather destination if you are from out of town - but vancouver items know it's awesome all year long. Great place for a walk anytime of year in almost any weather . The view will take your breath away . And it soothes your soul just to look at the water and mountains. If you have a dog they will love it here as well.
Great place to go for a walk by the ocean. I collect sea glass here when I am in town. Also has off leash dog park.
Miles of uninterrupted, barely-developed beach. Long shallow tidal area. Usual dangers of undertow or sudden holes opening up if you walk too far out. But a lovely, lovely place to tan, picnic or play volleyball at one of the many City-installed nets. Some lifeguarding during conventional hours.
Regardless of the time of the year, this is a great place to go for a walk on the beach and in the park and to enjoy the vista -- great views of the ocean, north shore mountains, and Vancouver. Though the food choice is limited, there is a nice place to get coffee or tea.
This is a world class place to visit...what a beautiful setting with a path to walk miles on along the ocean...with the beautiful mountains and city of Vancouver in the background.
If you visit off season, this long stretch of beach with many names, Lacarno, Jericho, Soanish Banks, offers an easy walk along Burrard Inlet (not an ocean, that's on the other side of Vancouver Island) with stunning views of the Coastal Mountains and the city. You can stick to the path or walk along the waterside. Loads of free parking. And in the fall and winter, fewer people making it a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the downtown core. The lovely walk is dotted with cafes and restrooms, and benches or logs to sit and enjoy the view.In the summer, it can get crowded. The parks board puts up volleyball courts and these draw lots of people. It is difficult to access if you don't have a car, but the #4 bus will drop off close to it.
This is Vancouver at its finest. The very long and large beach is just fabulous. You can walk, cycle or run along this stretch of lovely beach. The views are phenomenal. There are several little spots that serve beach food (hot dogs and the usual). On a nice summer day, this beach will be full of people picnicking, people watching, skim boarding, body surfing, biking, playing beach volleyball (lots of courts) and just hanging out. A great spot for many reasons.
One of my many favorite spots in Vancouver with miles of beaches, walkways, and unhindered views into the coastal mountains as well as of the great silhouette of the city of Vancouver. Great spot for a pick nick.
Who does not like a beach that goes on forever and ever. When the tide is out you can walk way out or skim board and then sit back and watch it come back in on the great beach
