Loved this hike. We went around 12-1 in afternoon, so sunlight was perfect for taking photos. The parking at Logan Pass was awful, but we managed to find a spot. We went 1/2 way down to the lake. We didn't go all the way to the bottom because we thought the hike back up (very steep) would be way more challenging than we had wanted to do with a 25 pound camera backpack on!! It's definitely a challenge, but I''m sure it would be worth the trip. We saw collared mountain goats. Nice big rocks to sit on and have a snack or just enjoy the views while you are resting from all the incline hiking.
This hike is well worth the time. We hiked on past the lookout to Hidden Lake itself. If you have the time and want a little exercise, I recommend going on to the lake, total of 6 miles round trip..
Fairly easy hike, aboaut 3 miles round trip, allow about 1.5 to 2 hrs.500 ft elevation change, and plenty of places to rest along the way.Very scenic lake at the end and saw several Mtn goats and a Big Horn sheep along the way.
Take this hike for a picturesque surprise in the mountains. The hike maybe a bit strenuous, but the pictures at the end is marvelous.
This was our favorite hike in Glacier. We saw big horn sheep as well as mountain goats. The hike down to Hidden Lake and back with photo stops took 3.5 hours. It was very fun and a good work out.
Excellent view--spectacular 360 degree scenery. Definitely worth the short drive . We enjoyed it very much!
3miles round trip and it's up hill. good path but lots of steps . Beautiful area. The wildflowers were in bloom and several waterfalls plus we saw mountain sheep and various other little critters. The view of the lake at the overlook is antistatic. so if you are able do this.
First of all, don't let the boardwalks deceive you into thinking this is a very easy stroll - the boardwalks are there to protect the fragile environment, and they continue, with many steps, over several hidden hills before changing to a hiking trail to the lake overlook. Lots of people on the trail even after mid-September. We were there in late afternoon and missed all the goats, sheep and bears that hikers reported earlier in the day. Scenery isn't as beautiful or dramatic as many hikes in GNP, but this is a good hike if you have only an hour or so.
Ok so it's not like we went backpacking but hey it's a nice walk. You get to walk up to a glacier . Go soon they are melting. Great views, a bit of exercise, it's well worth the stop. Early in the day is best the parking lots a drag.
