Thank you for your nice review. We do have stairs to negotiate on both the natural wonder tour (60 steps up) and the historic tour (44 steps down, 38 steps up). Thanks also for mentioning our handicapped accessible tour called the Limestone tour. It is short, about 25 minutes, but has no steps at all. The limestone tour is offered daily from May 1st through September 30th. The cost for the limestone tour is $12 per person.
Thank you for your kind review. Many people suffer with various levels of claustrophobia. We are glad that you enjoyed the tours despite this. Caves and caverns are not for everyone, but we are one of the easiest to tour in the eastern US. We hope that you come back for a repeat visit soon!
Thank you for your review and for your visit! We strive to provide a high quality cave experience to all our guests. We will address your point in our guide training sessions. Thank you for helping us make our great attraction even better!
Thank you for your glowing review. We hope that you get back to visit soon!
Thank you for your glowing review! We pride ourselves in being a fun "old fashioned" family attraction. We are glad that your family enjoyed themselves. We have passed on your compliments to your guide that day. We hope that families from all over Ohio (and elsewhere) come to experience our wonderful cavern!
Thank you for your review. We are glad that you came for a visit. The rural setting around the cavern property adds to the scenic views. Frankly, from a business standpoint, we wish that we were closer to the major cities and freeways. The cavern is not "movable", so we are banished to a rolling hill of the Bellefontaine outlier, surrounded by pristine valleys and farm land. Come visit and bring your camera and a picnic. Memories are often made in the country!
Thank you for your nice review! We are fortunate to have such a varied geological representation in the cavern. We don't know who coined the phase "America's Most Colorful Cavern", but we are glad they did! We hope to see you again soon.
Thank you for returning to visit the historic tour. It is open from May 1st until September 30th. We are sorry that you hit your head and glad that you not injured. The guides should point out the low ceiling spots. We will work on this aspect of tour safety. We hope that you can plan a return trip soon!
Hello Mark,We take all comments seriously and will have some discussion and training about several of the specifics that you mention. The “regular tour” that you refer to, is called the Natural Wonder tour. It highlights the biggest and best parts of the cavern. The Limestone tour is the only area of the cavern accessible to wheelchairs and scooters. It opened to the public in May of 2012. We went to considerable extra expense and effort to make this area of the cavern accessible. We never “push” the Limestone tour, but from a service point of view felt it was the right thing to do. We are the the only cavern experience in Ohio open to those unable to walk. We wish that we could make more of the passageways accessible, but alas; we can not without destroying the very beauty that nature created. While we urge those who are able, to take the Natural Wonder or Historic tour (or both), we feel that the Limestone tour is worth paying for, for those who have no other options in this area We are disappointed you had a negative experience based on the very positive reviews we have received from visitors with limited mobility.
Thank you for your kind and information review. We are glad that you visited and hope to see you again soon!
