  The Whitby History Museum opened in 2004 keeps alive its more prosperous past and inventions. The people working there were proud of its rich history and welcoming of visitors. A Whitby time clock for workers to document their time at work by selecting their employee number and pressing a key, rang a bell, punched a hole on a paper cylinder marking the time stamp, the paper cylinder is removed weekly and the workers pay are calculated from its record.A piano on display was manufactured in Whitby. The owner of the piano company was located in another town, asked for a loan to expand its company but was turned down. Whitby made an offer to the company and relocated itself to Whitby.
