I have been skiing Windham Mountain for nearly 25 years and have watched the steady progression from a privately owned ski slope to a world-class resort. When there is little natural snow, their snowmaking makes all the difference, but if you haven't been there in the last month, you owe it to yourself to experience the best snow in 25 years. My wife and I skied Presidents Weekend and not only was every slope opened, but magnificently groomed with the pest packed powder / corduroy I have ever seen. The staff is friendly and helpful, the lift lines are managed with military precision and the on mountain amenities first rate. The only ice I saw all weekend was a handful of ice cubes floating in my glass of scotch at Seasons! Highly recommended.
i went midweek and the place was virtually empty. it was freezing cold though. they need a bubble or a gondola, it gets pretty windy. never had to wait more than a minute to get on the lift and the runs were nicely groomed, had some powder on the edges and were empty. ill be back this month
This is a great mountain for a day trip. It is big enough that for one day you won't get bored, not sure I could say the same if we stayed longer. The conditions were great and seemed very well groomed. We enjoyed lunch at the cafe on site. It is expensive, but that is to be expected.
This is good ski mountain and as a weekend local it's my "go-to" place for a day of skiing on varied well groomed terrain. I'm happy to recommend it but, a big but, the parking is awful. Yesterday, granted a Saturday, we arrived at 10:15 AM to find the valet parking full and the only available parking in a muddy off-site lot. Yes there is a bit of a shuttle service but its timing seemed random and at day's end I counted only two smallish busses covering three large lots with hundreds, maybe thousands of cars. Neither a good "welcome" in the morning nor "so long" at the end of the day. Basic infrastructure needs more attention than this, more so perhaps than yet another high end condo development taking over a previous parking area and perhaps capital better used on the basics of customer comfort. And, with a place as sweet and as desirable as this for day tripping, has any thought been given to limiting weekend ticket sales to help avoid extensive lift line waits and trail crowding? Of course the trade off would be higher ticket prices but then, the skiing experience would improve commensurately.
I'll save you all the time reading the long reviews --- GO HERE! Great mountain. Lift lines were long on weekend but where aren't they. Worker on quad Sat and Sun with ponytail was great to watch! High energy and made waiting fun! Even tho mountain was crowded the slopes weren't. A lot of trails spread everyone out. Grooming was great and very little ice. Trails turned to mostly powder-y by midday. Bring food with you and grabs snacks. Pricey but then again what good ski mountain isn't. All staff was friendly. Bring $25/day cash and valet park on the weekends. We had a fabulous time and can't wait to come back!
OMG massive insanity, I thought I was seeing something out of an old movie...do you believe an employee stands at each ski lift & literally walks up to each skier on line to scan their ski pass, u can see the frustration as these young employees scan each & every pass?? sorry Windham he missed scanning my son's pass. get rid of this absolutely bizzare antiquated machine & start putting a modern system like Jiminy Peak, besides there were 50 million people that were there on Saturday 3/7/2015 & the lines were REDICULOUS!! U really need a ski caddy to get u around because there r 50 million stairs & a parking lot full of 1 foot of orange mud.
I skiied mid week this week at Windham and had a great time. It was so easy to rent skis and be on the mountain in no time. The lift lines were non existent. I found many runs where I was the only one on it! The snow conditions were fantastic..The mountain is not huge so the amount of time in the chair is minimal, then your right back ripping it! There are quiet a few runs and plenty of mix levels to those runs. I ate at one meal at Seasons and was so happy to see healthy choices. Nice place. I totally had a good time and was very happy not to have to drive twice as far to upper Vermont. The snow is still there and still cold so there is still plenty of good skiing left this season. All in all I would definitely go back and would wholeheartedly recommend Windham!
We skied at Windham this past Monday and Tuesday. Monday was deep ungroomed snow and poor visibility because of the heavy snow falling. Many skiers absolutely loved these conditions although the writer found it quite difficult. The grooming team did an outstanding job overnight of grooming the slopes and Tuesday proved to be a fabulous day of skiing with perfectly groomed "corduroy" slopes. Only downside was the walk uphill through very deep snow to get to the main chairs. Ski weekdays if you can!
The bathroom is not kept for. In each cabin, it's almost impossible to step in because of the water and ice and dirt and paper all around. All of the seats are dirty. Nobody even bothers to flush the toilet after themselves. And in some cabins there is almost no light. For ten years of skiing in Windham I have never seen such conditions before. Hope this issue will be resolved.
A wide variety of trails from beginner to expert. Trails were well maintained but locating staff was a bit difficult. Skied for the full day and did not see ski patrol once. A variety of food options at the mountain but prices are high.
