It was raining and some of the activities we had planned were scrapped so that we could get indoors. We decided to visit the showing of "Jerusalem." I did not love the film, but I did really appreciate how in the introduction they showed where all of the speakers were located. It helped me to be more observant of and appreciative for the amazing sound. The size of the screen and the viewing area is overwhelming and I initially got dizzy trying to deal with it. So although the movie was just okay, the theater itself, including the sound and viewing experience, is amazing
We saw 3 shows on Friday (not many people there on Fridays during the school year). Mummies, Railroads and Tornados! Not the exact titles. All 3 shows were exciting, informative and fun. Tornados has the most "Action". We love the Omni - go every time we are in town if possible. Great museum too!
This format is now relatively common all over these days, but still always a great experience for the senses.
We see the Polar Express every year at this venue and never tire of it. Cost was $9/adult, $8/junior which was ages 2-12. We were in spot #1 in line and got some really good seats; in fact, they were the best we've ever been able to secure, so it was worth it getting there 40 minutes prior to start time. This is like a 3D movie without wearing the glasses! The seats we secured were in the row directly above the large blue "box"; you'll see it when you enter the auditorium. No one is in front of you, and you have a foot rest! I would not recommend sitting in the bottom half of the auditorium.
I had never been to a dome OMNI theater before... when I walked in I was immediately disoriented and started leaning to one side. Trying to get to my seat was a challenge because I was leaning away from the screen as it felt like I would fall if I straightened up. My wife laughed at me... it apparently didn't affect her (perception) as it did me. I had only been to a flat screen OMNI before this, so it was quite a change. I loved it! You could hear anything and everything as if you were in a box. My own voice seemed quite loud. The curve of the room and the dome affected me in ways that I had never experienced before... except for the tilted house at Six Flags over Texas as a child... Don Juan's Casa Magnetica I believe it was called. Same effect for me. Rocky Mountain Express was a delight to watch and the scenery was magnificent. I was totally immersed in the movie as the sights and sounds surrounded me. It was a great experience and a great presentation. I would love to go back to see more. Great experience!! Please note that parking is located just east of the complex in a pay-for-parking garage... I believe it was about $5 to park there.
I've been going to the Omni since I was a child and it's still just as amazing. Now my kids enjoy it just as much as I do. Unique dome-style theater immerses you in the movie. Definitely recommend if visiting.
Nice, clean theater. Curved screen affords a good experience.I would avoid if you are prone to motion sickness, or select a show with limited motion.I would like to see a wider variance of shows in a place like this. For example, today had two nature shows and one about Jerusalem. I would have liked something with a little more verve personally.A little better than IMAX, but not much more.
Our family recently visited us from out of state. The Omni theater was one of the activities we enjoyed as part of celebrating Christmas in North Texas. All ages from 68 to 6 enjoyed seeing THE POLOR EXPRESS. Although we had reservations, we had a rather long wait and we were seated high in the upper level as there were several school children there, the height un-nerved some of the family. That did not deter the wonderful outing, however. Great movie to see on the huge screen. A 7-year-old boy in the party is still talking about the enormous speakers, specifically the BIG BASS.
If you have never done OMNI then this one will not disappoint. Be ready to be amazed. The theater is part of the Fort Worth Museum, anither favorite. Cafe/snackbar is expensive and has short hours.
Never been till my husband took me and I loved it. Although am scared of heights this show was so worth it I would recommend this place totally two thumbs up.
