This theatre is so beautiful. My daughter took me and my granddaughter their for a matinee and it was delightful. It looks flawless! It is so nice to see old theatres like this restored and cared for.
The paramount is a very pretty theatre and we had the pleasure of seeing two acts there during first night...more people should attend first night..many different venues to enjoy!
This historic treasure is a must see whether open for a show or not. The design, the history, wall tapestries, the theater! Visit!
On November 6, 2014 my wife and I attended the world wide premier of Adriana Trigiani's "Big Stone Gap" movie, in which I was honored to appear in several scenes as an extra. The movie premier was a superlative event and the Paramount Theater was the perfect venue in which to hold it! The theater is quite impressive and according to certain reports it contained that night a full house numbering around 1,100 patrons. The theater is very ornate and elaborate, much larger than I had imagined and yet with a cozy and certainly comfortable feel. The Paramount Theater is certainly a local treasure for the Charlottesville area!
We went here twice in one night as part of first night Virginia. What a great time. We saw juggler Ed Kennedy and comedian Brett Leake. What a night! What a great venue! It's a beautiful venue, and the staff are really nice.Ed is the most amazing juggler we've ever seen. Brett had us laughing so hard we cried. We're from out of town, but we really had a good time and hope to come back.
What a fantastic venue. You can sit almost anywhere in the house, and have an excellent view of the stage. Equally gratifying is the superior sound system. It is a must return to, beautiful, elegant and fun place.
My friends and I bought tickets to see 50 Shades! The Musical, scheduled to play on February 21st. That day, we had a snow storm that continued all day leaving 6" of snow on the ground, followed by ice and sleet, which turned the streets into a slick, dangerous mess. The police advised people not to get in their cars unless it was an emergency. Paramount refused to cancel the show, saying on their Facebook page that it wasn't up to them, it was up to the promoters. Upon contacting the touring company, I was told that it was up to Paramount. The bottom line is that none of us could get to the theater because of the dangerous driving conditions, and because the show had not been canceled, we couldn't get our money back either. I will not be purchasing tickets to anything at Paramount ahead of time in the future, and it's unlikely that I will be patronizing them again at all.
The Paramount Theater is a Charlottesville treasure that was restored to its original glory from the early 1900s with beautiful tapestries and friezes. The sight lines are great with wonderful acoustics. You can purchase beer, wine, sodas and snacks in the lobby. I have seen movies, bands, comedians and speakers and the experience has always been a memorable one.
This is a beautifully restored movie theater from the 30's that hosts live performances as well as relays from New York and London in HD. Every event we have been to at the Paramount has been top class. The sound system is excellent, and the seats are comfortable.
I thought it was very cool that they opened the theatre up for folks to watch World Cup soccer. The USA/Ghana match was truly one of the coolest sporting events I have ever watched with a large group of people. Great service to the community.
