Great museum for those who truly love American history. We recommend it for history majors, history buffs, and historyteachers who want to share with their students.
It was hard to choose between this and the Old Statehouse as my favortie Little Rock experience. This place has a real presence.
Good tribute to Military History. Nice collection enough to keep my children 10,8,& 6 interested without boring them.
The MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History is located in the tower building of the U. S. Arsenal in MacArthur Park. Built in 1840, this building, the birthplace of General Douglas MacArthur, was part of Little Rock's first military installation. For a small museum, it contains a number of interesting exhibits. Perhaps one of the most interesting deals with the Civil War. A film about General MacArthur is also worth watching. Outside the museum is a Korean War Memorial. Persons interested in military history would enjoy this museum. These is no admission fee to visit this museum, but donations are welcomed. Photographs are permitted.
This is a great museum in a lovely location. It has free parking and is completely free. Donations are welcomed though. The staff are very helpful and friendly. There are great exhibits on The American Civil War, WWI, WWII including an actual jeep, Korea and Vietnam. My favourite exhibit was the information on MacArthur, just so much to see, watch and read. Also fascinating in that this building was his birth place. Outside there is a realy peaceful Korean memorial. I will be back.
The MacArthur Museum is a good look back in history. It will remind you of things you may have forgot about this great American leader, as well as the sacrifices made by so many. They truly were, "The Greatest Generation"
covered wwii korea and vietnam wars as well as macarthurs history - donations accepted - nice little gift shop - well worth a visit
The museum was closed for the day when we arrived. We spent an hour or more walking through the Korean War Memorial. So well done it rates an excellent alone
A lot of history in a small space. You will enjoy the film of Douglas McArthur. The park the museum is in is very pretty to walk through.
This was our first stop on our tour both in Arkansas and in Little Rock, visiting 7 states this time. It was very interesting, especially as it had a few special exhibitions, one dealing with the infamous treatment of Japanese-Americans during WWII and the other one with the famous General. All very interesting. Re Vietnam, more focus should be applied on the problematic background. Make sure to visit the nice memorials and statues outside, as well as the beautiful Catholic Church across the road.
