Volcano made beach with black stones create an unique view! Mavra Volia beach is accessible by another beach named Mavros Gialos.
is also one of the most peculiar ones. Either you re going to love it or hate it. There is no between! You should bare in mind that the sun sets rather quickly there, so don t visit late in the afternnon!
This wonderful beach is close to medieval village Pyrgi. You can go there by car and is easily accessible. The most impressive thing is the colour of the pebbles-black-because of an old volcano. The sea is crystal clear. You have to take an umbrella with you to have some shade. There are traditional tavernas nearby to taste delicious food at reasonable prices. The only disadvantage is that in summer is a little difficult to find parking space.
This would have to be one of the best beaches in the world and we have travel a fair bit ,Crystal clear water and the beach is lined with amazing large black pebbles .This beach is quite amazing a must do on the island .
The cliffs lining this beach are a golden stone, but the pebbles on the beach (it is an entirely pebble beach) are black. The explanation is that the pebbles are from a volcanic eruption out to sea, and not from the cliffs above. Wear water shoes if you have sensitive feet, but it is a lovely beach that gets deep very quickly.
I had heard a lot about this beach and it lived up to everything I had heard. It has good sized black stones that are thought to have originated from volcanic activity; the stones are unique to this area of Chios only. It was a beautiful setting with the bluff on both sides. If you walk a bit further down the path there is another more secluded beach. The locals told me there is another one afterwards but you have to wade to that one.
If swimming in clear blue water like in an aquarium gets you excited this is the place to go. You can see the ground way out into the bay. Be aware it's a natural beach with no amenities except a small taverna.
This place has two beaches and we visited the more isolated one which required some 10 minute walking. The waters are amazingly clean (we visited it with northern winds blowing). There is a beach bar in the first beach if you would like to get a coffee or refreshment. The only problem we faced was the car parking. Drivers park on both sides of the road and there was a lot of confusion and frustation. We suggest that you park your car at the nearby village and walk.
This beach is highly overrated. We went there black pebbles were all around and the sea was great but it is hard to go there.
nothing to say about the beach. You simply have to go no matter what. Probably the best beach i've ever been to.
