We were here in March, when it's the most crowded and when actually getting to the beach is problematic. Our condo was across the road from the beach, so not only didn't we have beach access but we also did not have a view of the beach because of the dense crowding of ocean-front buildings. Getting access to the beach meant driving to a public parking area that could not accommodate the volume of vehicles trying to locate a spot. In summary, this is a pretty beach if you face the ocean and don't turn around to see the jam-packed buildings that rim it and if you're paying top dollar for the privilege of staying in one of those buildings. Traffic is a nightmare in March.
This beach was beyond stunning. It's the biggest one I've ever seen, and the pure white sand is like powder. The water is crystal aqua and the views are just gorgeous. The only downfall is the bathroom is about a 12-15 min walk, maybe more depending on how far you're sitting. They have a lot of parking, and are adding more to accommodate the growing population of people that will stay all day to watch the sunset.
Siesta Key
I just drove down to Siesta Beach today to watch the sunset tonight. There is a lot of construction going on, and when I turned into the parking lot, there were about 100 other cars besides me driving around looking for a parking space. It was completely jammed. I used to love going to Siesta Beach. I haven't been here during the winter/spring for a couple of years, and it seems like the secret's out that it's a pretty awesome beach. But in my opinion it's going to be difficult to maintain it's no. 1 status if it remains utterly inaccessible like it was tonight.
A lovely, deep, white sand beach. Free parking at the beach, which is being expanded further. The town itself has a terrible parking problem but we have never had an issue parking at the beach. Getting there can be an issue with the traffic during peak times.Concession stand and other facilities are available.
Siesta Key beach is just awesome. I was only able to get on the beach several times due to a knee issue so I was really bummed. On previous visits I'd walk the beach from end to end and in between. It's truly beautiful and as white as white can be. I noticed that whomever even now grooms the beach at the #10 entrance which is a nice improvement.I hope to be able to once again enjoy walking the beach next year.Keep up the great work on the beach.
Tourist guides described the white sandy beaches, ideal for searching for shells and sea glass. The waters are supposed to be amazing. However, I'll never know because there is a serious lack of parking available in Siesta Key. We spent about 2 hours driving around town looking for a place to park. It looks like there in a new parking lot in construction, but it should have been open long before Spring Break. And if there are parking spots hidden somewhere in Siesta Key, they are a well guarded secret by the locals. If you do venture into a parking lot, be prepared for absolute road rage. About a half dozen cars will jockey for position and fight you tooth and nail for parking spots. I saw passengers walk out of a car and run into an empty parking spot a few rows away to "hold" it while the other car made it's way there. NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE!
